The restructuring of Pleasure Island is underway with massive demolition. The map below shows the new layout for the area, including the addition of a boat dock next to the Rock N Roll Beach Club.
The old pedestrian bypass bridge (below) is nearly completely demolished with only the supports remaining as perches for turtles, and the distinctive yellow Pleasure Island entrance bridge will later be removed as well.
A new bridge will be constructed to connect the West Side to Pleasure Island through the area which was once the West End Stage but is now this pile of rubble.
Along the main stretch of the area, they have constructed what is affectionately called the Great Wall of Pleasure Island. The steep grade of the main walkway will be lessened in the process of rennovation.
