UPDATE: Contemporary DVC architecture firm

by on August 6, 2006

UPDATED AUG 7 2006 – It turns out we were on to something with the information below, as the architecture firm pulled the information and images from their website. A little research has revealed that the same firm also created the current Contamporary convention center. The images on the website (for those who missed out) did indeed depict a 15 C-shaped tower in the style of the current tower in the place of the current North Wing labeled as Vacation Club timeshares.

Original posted August 6, 2006:

After discussing the breifing given to frontline CMs at the Contemporary Resort about the new DVC resort complex coming soon, some friendly folks point us to website of of the architecture firm Gwathmey Siegel.

http://www.gwathmey-siegel.com/news/index.html

It turns out they are apparently designing they new 15 story DVC addition to the resort. Scroll down that page for a look into the future of the resort – they say the completion is set for some time in 2008.

New Animal Kingdom Happy Family Touring Plan

by on August 5, 2006

A new “Happy Family” touring plan for the Animal Kingdom is available. This is a one-day plan that includes something for everyone in the family: small children, ‘tweens (children ages 8-12), teenagers, parents and seniors. The plan keeps the entire family together for much of the day, including lunch.

The plan includes attractions very popular with small children, such as the Boneyard and Primeval Whirl. For older kids and teenagers, we recommend thrill rides such as Expedition Everest and Dinosaur, with everyone getting back together when each is done.

Backstage Pass and Mickey Monitor say Nemo ride in October

by on August 5, 2006

After all the hoopla over the Disney Visa card holder newsletter telling us that the Nemo ride would open in November (admittedly, we were skeptical, because that seemed since late they hired the operational CM’s last week) it’s been noted that the Backstage Pass portion of Disney’s website and the Mickey Monitor newsletter sent out to annual passholders refer to an October opening.

When will it open? We wish we knew. November seems a safe bet that it will be operating by, but the grand opening date is still elusive. Luckily, pass holder previews are planned though and will be announced in the future. Just 2-3 more months until we can all find Nemo.

Disney Dinner shows switch to Tiered price system

by on August 5, 2006

Coming in January, Disney Dinner shows will be offering a new pricing strcture similiar to seating at a broadway production. Lower-level and front/center seats will cost the most, while the far corners and highest seats furthest removed from the action offer a slight discount.

At the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue seating will now have 3 categories.

Category 1: Covers most of the lower floor, and is nearest the stage. It is the only wheelchair accessible category.

Category 2: Is the back section of the lower floor, and the center of the second floor balcony. Essentially, it’s still facing center stage.

Category 3: Consists of the sides of the 2nd floor balcony.

Over at the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, there will also be 3 categories.

Category 1: Lower level, center stage seats.

Category 2: Flanking category 1 seats on the lower level, or directly behind them, centered on the second level.

Category 3: The far sides of the lower and upper level, and in the furthest rear of the upper level.

Price for both are consistent across the board, for Adults/Children:

Category 1 (2007) $58.99/$29.99
Category 2 (2007) $54.99/$26.99
Category 3 (2007) $50.99/$25.99
