Seas with Nemo and Friends admits first Guests

by on October 8, 2006

Monday October 9th, 2006, around lunchtime, a few guests report having being let into the Seas with Nemo and Friends to ride the attraction. The opening was reportedly very breif with the CMs outside denying the event both before and after the occurance in very vague terms. The refurbishment walls have come down and the crashing wave-effect fountain has been turned on.

Again, these previews are not official and should be considered a privilage in any form. If you are allowed entrance into the attraction on any day its not officially open consider yourself very luckey – and please be nice to the Cast Members outside. Its their job to stand outside and tell you its closed all day, even if it will open in 5 minutes. The have no control over the situation.

It will be a 400-seat, seated (a special thanks from those of us who don’t miss leaning on “lean rails”), theater where a pair of monster comedians will try to get laughs from the audience in an attempt to generate electricty for the city of Monstropolis.

Nemo ride show scenes mentioned

by on October 6, 2006

Several scenes of the upcoming Nemo ride, The Seas with Nemo an Friends, were mentioned in a cast member newletter article from Imagineering.

The attraction will have 9 scenes, with “Mr. Ray’s Field Trip,” and “Where’s Nemo?” amoung others which include an impressive encounter with a hungry angler fish, culminating in the musical ending “Big Blue World” which will also be featured in the Finding Nemo – The Musical stage show opening soon at Animal Kingdom.

The article gives a few good hard facts as well, including that there was 280ft of track added beyond the original portions which ran through the old Carribbean Coral Reef Ride tunnels. The ride also utilizes projection technology to bring the characters from Finding Nemo into the massive aquarium of the Living Seas.

Nemo Ride may open early

by on October 6, 2006

We’ve gotten word that over this weekend (Oct 7-8, 2006) the refurbishment walls at the Living Seas (now becoming the Seas with Nemo and Friends) are scheduled to be removed in anticipation of the preview openings for annual passholders and DVC members later in the week as well as Disney Cast Member (employee) previews starting on Wednesday.

The short version of the long story is that they need to operate the pavilion as though it were fully open and staffed for Monday and Tuesday. That means if and when conditions allow there’s a slight chance the ride may open to regular day guests. So, if you’re in Epcot, feel free to swing on by and check it out, but please don’t expect it to be open.

In less vague news, the pavilion is officially expected to be fully operational and accepting regular guests by October 31st at the latest. More than likely it will reopen after a breif period of downtime for minor adjustments after the previews (to work out the kinks they discover – if any) and then go into an official “soft opening” period until it holds a grand opening celebration.
