Reservations Systems Down until 10/23

by on November 12, 2006

The Central reservation system at Walt Disney World will not be operating until sometime late 10/23/06. This means they will not be accepting new room reservations during this time period, and modifications to existing ROOM reservations will be done after the updgrades to the system are complete.

If you call for ROOM reservations (407-WDisney) during this time period, you can get a general quote on a room but specific information will be unavailable such as actual availability and any discount pricing. Immediate concerns, such as vacations occuring in the next few days, will be handled through means other then the central reservation systems.

Dining, golf, recreation, tours, and ticket sales will still operate as they work through a seperate computer system.

El Rio del Tiempo Refurbishment (Closure?)

by on November 11, 2006

El Rio del Tiempo at Epcot is scheduled for refurbishment from January 2nd, 2007 until April 1st, 2007 according to Disney World’s website. Though we note the reopening date on April Fools day, we suspect this is valid as it is part of the main Disney World website.

We also suspect this extended refurbishment is for the long rumored 3 Cabelleros makeover to the attraction.

The Laugh Floor making progress and testing

by on November 11, 2006

The Laugh Floor Comedy Club attraction is showing visible progress as the refurbishment walls on its exterior have vanished from the exit area of what was once the old Timekeeper attraction which it replaced.

Also, we’re hearing reports that random guests are being pulled from the park to experience early tests of the attraction as of Saturday, November 11th, 2006. It is reportly not complete, but rather needing test-dummies for show material/topics as it is done in an improvisational fashion.

Haul out the Holly

by on November 11, 2006

The Magic Kingdom park has begun getting dressed in its holiday finest.

The icon tree at the Magic Kingdom is currently located in the Rose Garden near the central hub of the park. After the taping of the WDW Christmas Day Parade in early December, the tree will move up Mainstreet USA to Town Square.

While in the Rose Garden, Disney’s Photopass has set up a location at the tree for guests to get a professional photograph taken with it.

The Magic Kingdom’s holday transformation appears to be nearly complete. Other parks are in various stages of their makeover as well.

The Walt Disney Company filed permits with the local Florida water management system (they are signed 9/5/06) for the staging area of the Contemporary DVC resort.

The permits detail how water run-off and the construction setup for the STOLport staging area (previously a small airstrip to the south of the current Contemporary Resort and next to the Ticket and Transportation Center).
