New Disney Transportation System Charts Available

by on January 14, 2007

We’ve added to the website a chart comparing the time needed to get from any Disney resort to various Walt Disney World destinations, using Disney transportation or your own car.

An additional chart shows how to make the most efficient use of Disney’s free bus service to travel between resorts, rather than using a taxi service.

More details can be found here.

Janaury is Tarp-Tastic!

by on January 13, 2007

Janaury, while typically a slower month, is also filled with a plenty of work to get the parks bright and shiny for the spring and summer crowds.

Roof work seems to be the common theme in the Magic Kingdom. Pictured above, the Riverboat Landing gets some new shingles, and the finishng touches of the fascade near Peter Pans flight also needs a few areas of shingles. Elsewhere in the park, prep work for the Pirate and Princess Party ramps up with the installation of temporary stages and displays. Hopping over to Epcot…

The semi-annual refurbishment of the water play area outside of Mission: SPACE and Test Track is underway. Over by Electric Umbrella, more turquoise tile is being removed from the planters.

A peak in from the second floor seating area at the Electric Umbrella reveals that Disney is hard at work to rid Epcot of all blue-green tile.

Animal Kingdom and MGM aren’t to be left out. Animal Kingdom still has massive walls flanking Asia as the new restaurant is being constructed and MGM boasts walls all along Mickey Avenue for the much anticipated Midway Mania attraction.

San Angel Inn – Scene Change Warning

by on January 13, 2007

Notice that the sign outside of Epcot’s Mexico pavilion does not invite you to enjoy scenic views of the newly erected “Great Wall of Mexico” visible from what were once waterfront tables at the San Angel Inn Restaurante.

The restaurant will attempt normal operation until the refurbishment of the El Rio del Tiempo attraction is complete in April. However, less then pretty than a wall is a drained “river of time” full of sweaty construction workers. Until the work finishes, feel free to pretend the worklight peaking over the wall is moonlight.

We’ve updated details on the 2007 Disney Dining Plan, including the addition of Epcot, Coronado Springs, and Downtown Disney restaurants that were not originally reported to be participating in the plan.

We’ve also confirmed that the Dining Plan now separates adult and child meal credits, so it’s no longer possible to pay for adult meals using child credits in any restaurant that has a child menu available.
