Spetromagic gets even creepier!

by on August 18, 2007

The oh-so-creepy looking Spectromen from the Spectromagic parade at the Magic Kingdom are now makeup-based face characters rather then color changing lighted rubber heads. Regardless, they’re still creepy, possibly creepier, and still remind us of the Chuckie dolls from those classic horror films.

Muppets Mobile Lab to be found at Epcot

by on August 18, 2007

The Muppets Mobile Lab, part of the “living characters” project that spawned Lucky the Dinosaur, will be roaming around Epcot in the next few weeks to test the systems before it’s shipped off the Hong Kong.

The interactive robotic character features Dr Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker of muppets fame riding around in their crazy self-created vehicle and causing scientific mischief. The show originally opened at DCA to good reviews.

Epcot’s 25th Anniversary Party registration LAST CHANCE

by on August 18, 2007

The fan-based celebration of Epcot’s 25th Anniversary is going along nicely with 450+ registered attendees and the Disney company inviting the group to attend the park’s redication ceremony on October 1st in the morning.

Registration for the event ends at the end of the month, and you’ll need to register in order to attend. The general event and dedication ceremony is FREE. Also, the registration for the (paid) Illuminations dessert reception closes at the end of the week.

To attend, you’ll want to sign up at the group’s website here.

The special event may occur before the park’s official opening (it is still in the planning stages) but wristband distribution at the front gates will occur – so people formally signed up may attend. If you wish to sign up to attend or to get more information can visit the group’s website here.

Second time, not-so-charming

by on August 18, 2007

We’ve heard that ticket sales are again lagging for the Pirate and Princess Parties at the Magic Kingdom. This is the second time the parties have been offered this year, with the change of season thought to be better for sales. We’ve heard rumors that attendance is as low as 5000 guests for the events.

Similar events, the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party often sell out near the cap of 20k-25k tickets per night. The good news is that the park is wonderfully uncrowded and everyone gets a good spot for the parade.

Fountainview becomes Ice Cream shop

by on August 18, 2007

Our beloved, but ill-fated Fountainview restaurant in Epcot’s Future World has been given a reprise from its recent death sentence. Though the exterior is still being stripped of it’s semi-cylindrical canopies (most likely as part of a larger overhaul of Innoventions plaza) the restaurant will attempt to operate again.

During an upcoming test phase, the location will offer Edy’s ice cream in cones and waffle bowls, as well as offering some shakes and floats. This is a much requested addition to Epcot’s food offerings and should prove popular. However, it is only in a “test” period to gauge guest response.

If you want the Fountainview to remain open and you want ice cream – go buy a cone.
