Main Street Expands offerings

by on November 24, 2007

The new crystal shop on Main Street USA has expanded, reopening some of the long-shuttered retail space on the east side street.

The store now offers merchandise similar in style and theme to the now-defunct shop that was inside Cinderella Castle before the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique was installed, including large swords and armor.

The new space still has refurbishment walls up in the rear, the way the original area of the store did when it opened, implying it may grow even further and recover more of the abandoned alley.

Art of Disney replaces Main Street Cinema

by on November 24, 2007

The new Art of Disney store has opened replacing the Main street Cinema, though keeping the cinema theme.

Mickey Mouse cartoons play in the rear of the small space while a statue of Steamboat Willie at the helm acts as the central focus.

The entrance is flanked with movie-style posters with Disney characters enticing guests to enter.

Offerings within are very similar to other Art of Disney stores around Walt Disney World.

The new Fantasia store opens atContemporary

by on November 24, 2007

The long awaited new retail establishment on the 4th floor concourse of the Contemporary resort is now open. It is called Fantasia, essentially replacing the store of the same name which was housed in the area the current arcade.

Merchandise offerings are similar to other resort shops, but the whimsy is set to a much higher level at this store.

It also makes for some really neat photo opportunities through the giant mouse ears. Early concept art implied an imposing and cluttered area, but after the refurbishment walls have come down the area feels very open and inviting.

The open-ended flow-through design will help crowds move through the concourse once they open, announce, or confirm (whichever comes first)the 15-story DVC resort which will be connected to the area by an elevated walkway.

New counter-service opens around World Showcase

by on November 24, 2007

Two new counter service locations have been installed around World Showcase. The venues offer identical menus and seemingly provide more basic offerings to World Showcase – as it has been criticized by some for not offering any basic theme park food like hot dogs. Fussy children are now never far from staple foods of their selective diets.

The first location, Promenade Refreshment, is located to right of World Showcase plaza toward the Canada pavilion.

The building is furnished from opaque blue glass tiles, which gives it a nice glowing effect at night. The menu is basic, but has proven popular in the evening as guests seek locations to watch Illuminations. Sizable lines have already begun to form on busier days.

The second location is near the American Adventure and replaces a plethora of temporary carts and stands which provided concessions for the American Gardens theater. The area is thankfully now uncluttered and the offerings streamlined. The location is called the Fife and Drum Tavern.

The new marquees at Spaceship earth are up and lit nightly.

The queue of the attraction appears finished, with extensive lighting banks amid the planters, making the entire area far brighter then before.

Additionally, a new warning sign has appeared at the wheelchair entrance in the post-show area. It give a small glimpse into the direction of the ride narrative.

A new kind of Twinkle

by on November 24, 2007

For those who lamented the loss of twinkle lights along the sides of Spaceship Earth when the oak trees were removed and replaced with palms, we present to you: the entire World Showcase Plaza bridge lined with twinkle-light trees.

Both sides of the walkway have trees filled with the twinkling lights from Innoventions Plaza to World Showcase Plaza.
