Pecos adopts more self-order kiosks
Disney has filed permits to install more self-service order kiosks at the Pecos Bills restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. Apparently the four original kiosks were doing quite well and the system is being expanded.
Backlot Express switching to self-serve drinks
Following in the footsteps of the Electric Umbrella at Epcot, the Backlot Express at the Studios park will soon feature self-service beverages.
Coronado Springs room refurbishment
The rooms at the Coronado Springs resort will soon be getting an overhaul with new a look, decor, and linens. Expect a spiffy new look for the resort in the coming months.

Swiss Family Treehouse Rehab
The Magic Kingdom’s Swiss Family Treehouse will be closed for a short refurbishment from September 23-30, 2008.
Backlot to lose guides?
An interesting rumor keeps persisting around the net: The Studio Backlot Tram Tour could completely lose its tour guides and see them replaced with an automated spiel. Some reports even suggest the ride closing in early 2009 to make the change. Similarly, the Living with the Land attraction recently underwent the same alteration and became a high capacity attraction (as all vehicle could be run at once) without many complaints about the lack of a live guide.
Cars Meet-n-Greet reopens at DHS
A newly themed Cars meet-n-greet opens this weekend at the Studios park. the area once known as Al’s Toy Barn has been retooled to be Luigi’s Cassa Della Tires.
Energy facelift
Disney is currently in the process of replacing some (possibly all) of the mirrored tiles on the fascade of the Universe of Energy at Epcot with a metal sheeting. Previously large portions of the mirrored walls (the sides of the building essentially) were removed as the pavilion underwent an overhaul to become the current attraction. Could this be the end of the mirror tiles forever? We’re not sure, but there’s certainly going to be fewer of them.
Shiny new LEDs for Illuminations
The Earth Barge has finished its refurbishment and is back in the show at Epcot’s Illuminations. The quality of the globe is much improved and we can actually make out the images now. Video is from wdwmagic.com via youtube.
