Philharmagic refurb details

A few details from the refurbishment of Philharmagic reveal it will be getting new carpeting and the floor deck itself will be getting an overhaul. We suppose a solid foundation is a good thing for a theatrical experience.

AED’s in the parks

Disney will soon begin installing several AED’s (automated external defibrillator) in the theme parks near major attractions. This is an apparent generalized safety upgrade that will cover all of the major theme parks with several such installations in each.

Fort Wilderness additions

Two interesting bits have come up regarding Fort Wilderness. First, the 600 loop will be expanded – to what extent we really don’t know, but we expect it to be minor. Second, there has been a filing to place several trailers (13) on the property to house some sort of “visual display.” Is it a DVC preview center?

Electric Umbrella Closure?

We don’t have any dates, but the Electric Umbrella restaurant in Epcot now has permits for a kitchen rebuild including walls, service stations, and electrical. We suspect the venue would need to close during such work. More details as they become available.

Japan refurb and drummer displacement

The Pagoda at the Japan pavilion in Epcot will be refurbished in the near future. A plan for relocation of the Taiko Drummers who perform at the base of the structure is unknown currently – there may simply be no shows at all during the refurbishment. We will keep you updated as we learn more.

Epcot Fountain Rehab

The central fountain in Epcot at Innoventions Plaza will soon begin a major renovation. Expect it to be dry or behind walls in the near future.

T. Rowe Price in Innoventions West

Permits to install sets for an upcoming area in Innoventions West have been filed. The area is sponsored apparently by T. Rowe Price and will be built by Sparks Exhibits who have handled several of the recent additions to Innoventions.

New Disneyworld.com

Disney has launched an all-new Disneyworld.com with lots of flash animation and bandwidth eating media. We cannot, however, seem to locate simple items like ride closures and park hours for the months ahead. We suggest dropping them a line and voicing any concerns over the website if you want that information readily available. We know we do.
