Fantasmic! Schedule Affecting Crowds At Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Since January 2009 Disney has moved from a nightly showing of Fantasmic! to showings on select days. We have many reports that crowds are being affected by this change. While we send our trusty data collectors into the parks to scout out the nature and size of this affect we have decided to alter our best days/worst days recommendations such that the presence of a scheduled Fantasmic! show is now included in the algorithm. This does not mean that the studios will always be a park to avoid on days when Fantasmic! occurs, but it does mean that a day without Fantasmic! is more likely to get the nod.

Remember, the best days/worst days calendar is meant only as a guide in your planning. If missing Fantasmic! means that little Johnny or Jane is going to cry on the plane the entire way home, make sure to see it. If we say the Studios is a park to avoid but it’s the only night you can see Fantasmic!, by all means, go! A second option is to choose a day when a Fantasmic! show is scheduled and the Studios is neither recommended nor listed as a park to avoid. These days are in the middle in terms of typical Studios crowds and might be your best option.

Also note that this change may be temporary. As always, as we continue to gather our data on crowds at Walt Disney World, we will update the calendar whenever a change is necessary.
