Toast to Summer at the Polynesian

Well, all good things must come to an end.  With Labor Day around the corner another summer has come and gone and much to this beach bum’s dismay September is here. So before you pack away your beach chairs and sunscreen, lets have one last toast to summer!  Since nothing says summertime like a fruity drink with and umbrella in it, I’d like to take a closer look at the two bars at Disney’s Polynesian Resort before its all over this weekend.

Tambu Lounge, just outside of ‘Ohana in the Great Ceremonial House, is a great place to grab a drink after a long day in the parks.  Be aware that this location can get busy during the dinner time hours since it services guests waiting for both ‘Ohana and Kona Cafe.  However, after the dinner rush it is a great place to sip on a night cap.  The cast members tending bar have always been friendly and keen to offer suggestions for both beer and specialty drinks.  On our last visit we tried a few different concoctions and loved all of them.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; anywhere offering drinks served in a pineapple is high on my list.  If you’re hungry the bar also offers a selection of appetizers to munch on.  Tambu Lounge is open from 5 p.m to midnight every day.  My friends and I have been known to shut down this bar!

If you’d rather sit outside to enjoy your drink try the Barefoot Pool Bar.  Nestled near the Nanea Volcano Pool (the resort’s main pool), this outdoor location provides guests with plenty of lounging options.  On a nice day, you can sit poolside and sip you margarita or take your drink down to the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon for a happy hour treat.  Or if you are a romantic mood, find a hammock for you and your sweetie with a glass of wine just in time for Wishes at the Magic Kingdom.  This watering hole offers the typical cocktail, beer, and wine selections found through out the resorts as well as a small assortment of snacks.

So next time you are in Walt Disney World head to the Polynesian to soak in the tropical atmosphere with a fruity drink.  Get away from the hustle and bustle of the parks, find a hammock, and sip your… to recharge your batteries before heading back for night time festivities.

Cheers to another great summer!  I hope you all have a fun and relaxing Labor Day weekend!

Next time I’ll discuss a bit of planning taking place for my next trip…
