Disney opened one of its newest additions to Epcot’s World Showcase at the end of August with La Cava del Tequila inside the Mexico Pavilion. This cozy and inviting bar offers a great place to hang out with friends, enjoy some drinks, and relax during your trip to WDW. The menu boasts over 70 different kinds of tequila as well as margaritas, Mexican beers, and tapas for snacking. The decor embraces its setting with examples of Mexican culture and art while it also displays photographs of the tequila making process.
So let’s not beat around the bush; I love this place! I visited twice on my December trip and have plans to enjoy it again in March when I head to Disney World again. This watering hole instantly made it onto my list of favorite places to chill for a while. I wanted to try La Cava del Tequila during my December trip, but I wasn’t expecting to hit it only hours after arrival. A group of us headed into the Mexico pavilion after a wdwtoday reunion event wrapped up. I met a lot of fun folks over shots of tequila and wound up hanging out with them for the rest of the day and plan to tour with them again. Nothing bonds people together than tequila and margaritas I guess! We may have stayed there a little too long and enjoyed the libations a little too much, but it was a great time.
Later in the trip my friends and I headed back on a rainy afternoon. It was a great place to sit and sip while foul weather passed by. This time we grabbed at table and lingered a while. Two of us opted for the flights of margaritas which provided a sampling of five different specialty margaritas from the menu. Another one of my friends decided on a flight of tequila and another just had some beer. You see there are options for varying tastes so don’t be turned off if you don’t think you could handle straight tequila. I enjoyed my flight of margaritas quite a bit. As to be expected, I liked some better than others just based on personal preferences, but overall I’m glad I got to try a variety of drinks. Next time we’ll have to try some of the tasty looking tapas to go along with our yummy liquid treats.
Although it may be off the beaten path, on busier days in the parks I’m sure this place is going to be packed just because it’s so tiny. The venue only seats about 30 people and has standing room at the bar. If you can snag a table, order up some tapas and some drinks and enjoy a hidden gem. It would also make for a great place to have a drink while waiting for a table at the Mexico pavilions table service restaurant the San Angel Inn.
Have any of you tried out La Cava del Tequila yet? Did you love it as much as I did? If you haven’t sampled their offerings yet I highly suggest you give it a shot on your next trip. There will be a meet at La Cava del Tequila on March 7, 210 at 4 p.m. as part of the wdwtoday Tentfest events. I will be there and would love to have a margarita with any of the readers!
And a special thanks to my friend Julie Saunders for some of this week’s photos!
Next week I’ll discuss my recent stay at the Boardwalk Inn…
