Location, Location, Location — Disney’s BoardWalk Resort

Last week I shared my love of Disney’s BoardWalk Resort – Club Level. In an effort to keep you informed, there’s little I won’t do in the name of Disney Research. I went back and stayed for 3 nights over the weekend. I just returned Sunday. I got a tour of all of the different rooms and spent a good bit of time interviewing guests.

To get a feel for any resort, I like to stay several nights and also be a repeat visitor. In repeat visits you get to know the resort on a deeper level. I have been to the Boardwalk three times in less than a year, staying three nights each visit. I think of you each time I’m there. If you plan on spending time at Epcot or Hollywood Studios, I highly recommend staying at the Boardwalk.

Location, location, location is another reason why I love the resort. It’s just a short walk to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. I love the ease and the access to the parks. I enjoy the walk. If walking is not your cup of tea, the Friendship Boats will take you to both parks. Not only is getting to Epcot and Hollywood Studios a breeze, but it’s also fun to be on the Boardwalk. The night life is what you think of first. Located on the Boardwalk are Jelly Rolls piano bar and Atlantic Dance Hall.

One of my favorite restauraurts, Flying Fish, is right there – have dinner and a glass of wine and then walk back to your room. The Boardwalk enjoys a plethora of other eating establishments from the Boardwalk Bakery to the ESPN Club. Just across the way at the Beach Club is Beaches & Cream. You can either take the short walk or ride the boat.

If you are a runner, the Boardwalk is your resort. There is so much to see and a there’s a nice long path. Running in the morning is the best time before the heat of the day and too many guests are out.

While the Beach and Yacht Clubs may have the most famous pool in all of Disney World, the Boardwalk pool with its coaster is a hit. I’m also a fan of the quiet pool as well.

All and all the Boardwalk is a well rounded resort that offers amenities to please a variety of guests. With an outstanding staff and fabulous location, the Boardwalk is an A+ in my book.

Have you stayed at the Boardwalk? What did you think? Are you considering the Boardwalk?

  • Stayed in a studio villa once, and now don’t want to stay anywhere else.

  • Hi! I loved to read this post, makes me fell good about my decision! We are from Brazil (myself, hubby and 6 year old boy), and we are going to WDW, third year in row, within a month. In 2008 we satyed off-property, and it made me feel excluded from the fun. Last year, we stayed at French Quarter and we loved it. For 2010 trip, I chose Boardwalk Inn (got a huge discount!), and I was a little afraid of it being crowded and impersonal… I was planning on having breakfast at Kouzzina, but wasn’t sure about the food being good… Now reading the post, I feel we are going to have an amazing vacation! Can’t wait to get there!

  • Our first stay at the Boardwalk will be at the Villas in October for Food & Wine. As has been mentioned, the location makes it a great choice for visiting EPCOT and the Studios. We’ve stayed at the Yacht and Beach Club several times, and the Dolphin, too. But as we absolutely love Flying Fish and Kouzzina (oh, and the Belle Vue Lounge), we were always walk around Crescent Lake to dine. So this year, we’ll just be walking to the other side for blue zoo (a perennial neighborhood favorite) and Beaches ‘n Cream. 😉

  • I LOVE the Boardwalk! I think it gets over looked next to other fan favorites like the Beach Club and Polynesian, but it my favorite resort so far. Not only can I walk to my favorite park, but the atmosphere is cozy, and the area offers plenty to do when you need a break from the parks.

I’m glad I got to spend some time there with you this weekend! We’ll have to take advantage of the area in October too.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Caroline!

    • Hey Kristen,
I totally agree with you. It does get overlooked. We’ll have to put a stop to that 🙂 I love the atmosphere too. Looking forward to another fun trip in October. Thanks for reading and commenting!!

    • Interesting you said that Boardwalk is overlooked. I always thought Beach and Yacht Club were overlooked because of the Boardwalk. (not saying you’re wrong, just sharing what I always thought LOL)

      • I don’t really have a problem overlooking the Yacht Club. It’s just a bit drab in decor. Though the globe is neat.

Cheryl and I prefer Wilderness Lodge, probably followed by Beach Club.

  • My family and I will be staying there next summer. We try to stay at a different resort each year and this one has always been at the top of my list.

  • The Boardwalk has always been a resort I’ve loved to stay in. The theme, decor and ambiance all really strike a chord with me. While it isn’t the best resort at WDW in my opinion, it’s still a great place to stay!

    • Hey Matt,
Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. I find the BoardWalk very relaxing as well. The staff is so nice and that is such a bonus. What is your favorite resort? If I had to guess, I’d say your favorite is the Poly? Thanks again, Caroline

  • I am a DVC owner at the Boardwalk and we also love the location. The first time we left Epcot (back entrance) and walked around the Boardwalk we knew that this was the best location to stay (for us) at Disney. We spend a lot of time in Epcot and it is nice to be able to walk to 2 parks. The Bakery and Flying Fish are great as well. We ate at Kouzzina for breakfast during our last stay and it was very good. We are going to eat there again on our next trip (have not tired Kouzzina for dinner yet).
