WDW News Recap: No New Tiki Room?

This week we begin at the Magic Kingdom where it appears the hopes of many looking for a return to the original Enchanted Tiki Room (post fire damage of the current version) have been dashed for now as The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management is currently set to re-open in early March…unchanged.

On a positive note, initial negative reactions to the lap-bar installation at Splash Mountain appear to be unfounded based on this post-installation, on-ride vid from wdwnewstoday

Over in Fantasyland, the Orlando Sentinel looks at how Snow White seems to be getting the short end of the stick in the current Fantasyland revamp…

While we are on the subject, Theme park Tourist helps us separate fact from fiction in upcoming Seven Dwarfs mine train coaster…

Following the closing of Toontown Fair, we now have the official destinations of displaced character meet-n-greets with Mickey and Minnie temporarily headed to Tomorrowland while their Main Street home is still under construction and  Tinkerbell and her fairy friends migrating to Epcot’s Future World…

Greeting the fairies at Epcot may be a slightly less cluttered Future World. Orlando Theme Park News looks at Innoventions plaza construction set to (possibly) remove additional clutter leftover from Epcot’s Millennium celebration…

The currently lacking Imagination pavilion is getting some much needed help with the addition of new Journey into your imagination post-show elements…

Folks wishing to return to a pristine, pure Future World will enjoy this  recently unearthed 1984 EPCOT Center home video…

Speaking of lost Epcot history, did you know a fake forest was part of the original Canada pavilion?

At the Hollywood Studios we continue to uncover Star Tours 2 details as the result of a George Lucas test drive of the work-in-progress attraction revamp…

It appears the regular guests are the not the only ones displeased with the latest incarnation of Hollywood Studios’ Pixar day parade. Word on the street is Disney parks head Tom Staggs is not exactly pleased with Pixar Pals countdown to fun parade either…

Speaking of bad show, Miceage columist Kevin Yee looks at the good and bad of WDW attraction rehabs and upkeep pointing mainly to the resort’s biggest offender, Animal Kingdom’s ‘disco’ yeti…

Across town, following the stigma associated with the current show Believe, SeaWorld has decided to keep the whale trainers out of the water for it’s upcoming replacement show, One Ocean

Next door, it appears Universal Orlando has no intention of stepping back underneath the shadow of WDW as the resort crafts a Wizarding World expansion plan of its own set to coincide with Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland opening time-table…

Praise continues for Disney Cruise Line’s new Dream ship with Mouseplanet’s look at Dream’s top ten list…

On the subject of Disney Cruise Line, Inside the Magic says DCL’s Castaway Cay is close to perfection, yet still feels like a “Main Street USA” version of an Bahamian island…

Finally, we journey back to 1967 as Walt Disney pitches WDW to Florida politicians…
