Disneyland 2012 – What Would You Like To See?
You guys had so many great ideas for the 2012 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, that we are throwing it out there to you again. This time it’s Disneyland in California we’re looking at.
So folks, how can we make your Disneyland planning easier? What do you need to know as you book your trip to Walt’s first park?

I’m confused about how it all fits together – are the restaurants in the parks open for dinner even if the park itself is closed? Is Downtown part of a park and what are its opening hours? I’m a real newbie!
Special dietary needs.
Because of the urban locale of the park, tips on traveling around the area would be useful. When to use I-5 or arterials to avoid traffic, for example, in order to get to Universal, etc.
Also, neither Unofficial guide discusses the pros and cons of taking kids out of school for a Disney vacation. This is an important topic as costs are lower during school periods and two parent-worker families and single parent families sometimes have little choice but to coordinate

I have to agree with this issue. My daughter and I would visit many more times a year if we could have better hotel rates! Specially being an annual pass holder. Schools are unforgiving at the middle/High school levels now days!

I agree about the WoC options. There are so many FP and dining options it makes your head spin.
Also, any update on single rider lines. I love taking advantage of those! It has been a while since I looked at my DL book, but I would also like more details on the tours that are offered (price, length, etc), if it doesn’t already have this info.
One thing that I think is missing from the Guide for Disneyland is coverage on special holiday seasons. Besides the impact on crowds, which is covered, HalloweenTime and the Christmas season at Disneyland add many special ride treatments and events even before the night-time parties – and is a unique difference from WDW. It would be really useful for people to know that they will not see the same Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain or Small World at these times — and the other changes. Those rides in particular probably merit separate reviews with their overlays… Also, I think people just might not realize all the options that are there — homemade candy canes, visiting Santa’s reindeer, etc.
I would like more information about seeing World of Color. The different Fastpass options and seating zones are so complicated that I think they merit more information than in the 2011 book. Analysis of the quality and value of the Fastpass meal options as well as the relative benefits of the different seating zones would be useful.
