VP Biden attending convention at Contemporary Resort in October
Vice President Joe Biden will be attending the Florida Democratic Convention being held at Disney’s Contemporary Resort October 28-31, 2011.
Biden will be giving a speech as part of the convention on October 28, 2011. Expect delays in transportation to and from the Magic Kingdom and in particular to and from the Contemporary Resort due to increased security measures. It’s likely they will limit access to the Contemporary Resort entirely during his visit as they have done in the past with such visits. Do not expect to visit the Contemporary “just because” or for shopping that day.
Delays with the Magic Kingdom’s transportation system will be due to the proximity of the Contemporary Resort to the bus drop-off and the requisite motorcade when the VP travels. In the past these events have caused significant backups with the buses attempting to pick-up/drop-off at the Magic Kingdom.

A conference I was going to attend, but alas no longer, November 6-9 at Coronado Springs Resort will have former President Bill Clinton as a keynote speaker. The resorts less central location may make that appearance less a burden on traffic flow than at the Contemporary but I imagine there will be some road closures etc around then too!
