Disney announced that a new 2012 Free Dining Plan Promotion is now available to all guests during select nights this fall with special Magic Your Way Packages.

Free Dining is one of the more popular discounts at Walt Disney World, and it offers guests the opportunity to add the Disney Dining Plan to their full-price room and ticket packages at no additional cost. Guests purchasing a package that includes a Value Resort stay can receive the Quick Service Dining Plan, and those purchasing a package that includes a Moderate, Deluxe, or Deluxe Villa Resort stay can receive the Standard Dining Plan. Upgrades to other Dining Plans are available for an additional fee.

The offer is only available for guests who are checking in during the following dates:

  • September 30, 2012 – October 4, 2012
  • October 19, 2012 – November 1, 2012
  • November 9, 2012 – November 15, 2012
  • November 23, 2012 – November 29, 2012
  • December 10, 2012 – December 13, 2012

There are a few things to keep in mind, however, about this specific offer. First, guests are required to stay for 3 nights minimum and purchase a minimum 2-day park ticket for each guest staying in the room. Also, the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, 3-bedroom villas, and the Little Mermaid Standard View Rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort are not included in this offer.

Guests who wish to book this deal for their vacation must do so by September 29, 2012.

I was told that this is not available to DVC members. Is this correct?

The free dining promotion is available to anyone willing to pay money (not DVC points) for a full-price package that includes a room and park tickets for everyone in the room.

So no one is excluded, per se, but there are a lot of people for whom the free dining promotion might not be an attractive deal financially.

  • I’m so disappointed that they won’t be offering it from 11/3 thru to 11/10. We went that week last year and used the free dining – it was so great! Not sure if we’ll go this year since they aren’t offering it:( Bummer!

  • So glad this finally opened! This definitely makes our December Holiday trip better! I know many people say it is not worth the cost, but for a family of 4 staying at a moderate resort, this definitely puts money in our pocket. Well, lets face it- back into Disney’s pockets for more souveniers! Thanks for the post Rikki!

  • We already booked our vacation and took advantage of the free dining plan! I actually received this offer via mail from Disney about a month ago. I was able to use it on our stay at the Art of Animation Resort in a standard room. We upgraded to the Dining Plus from Quick Service for a small fee.

  • Well AoA Little Mermaid room excluded for my time frame (11/24 – 11/30) so I moved to a POP preferred room for the QS and will upgrade it to the regular DDP at 45 days out when the final payment is due. That being said…if they offer up FD to the LM rooms any time in the future..I’m heading back there! Either way I’m happy! I’m going to Disney World!

  • When I look at the special offers on the Disney site, I only see the free plan for 6 night stays. Are they still offering it for shorter stays?

  • No DVC. No AP. Oh well, it’s the norm.

  • I am planning this years trip at the end of October, and from what I have seen in past years, there seems to be free dining in the week I am planning to go, except for the last two days I am there. So my trip will be Oct 26-Nov 2. If past years are any indication, the free dining is usually til that Thursday. My question is, would I still be eligible for the free dining if it only goes to Thursday and then I would have to pay the other 2 days? Anyone know?
