This week we take a look at the some modifications being made to Luigi’s Flying Tires in Cars Land, the new location of the Princess Royal Walk, construction on Princess Fantasy Faire, and the progress of Earl of Sandwich construction in Downtown Disney.

Luigi’s Flying Tires has received its first modification since opening on June 15 of this year. The beach balls have been removed from the attraction. Disney confirmed that the beach balls will not be returning, blaming the balls for the attraction’s notoriously slow loading times. Disney also said that there were some “minor incidents” involving guests being hit by beach balls during the ride (isn’t that the point?).

The former Princess Fantasy Faire has now closed to begin its transformation back in to a theater. Construction walls now surround the outside of the theater. The new Fantasyland Theater is expected to open next summer.

The quick service dining location outside of the old Princess Fantasy Faire will also be closed while the venue is under construction.

The popular Princess Royal Walk has moved to the area in front of  “it’s a small world.” The princesses are expected to remain here until the new Princess Fantasy Faire is complete. The wait times are pretty much the same in the new location. We are seeing wait times ranging from 60 to 90 minutes to meet the princesses.

There is some construction going on in front of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Fantasyland.

Princess Fantasy Faire construction continues. This view comes from the second level of the Main Street Omnibus.

Another view of construction. You can see some new steel structures in the middle of the picture.

The Downtown Disney newsstand is now mostly removed. Some of the support structure remains and is currently covered by a tarp.

Construction continues on Earl of Sandwich. Notice that Earl of Sandwich logos have been added to the construction walls.

For this week’s vintage Disneyland picture I am taking you way back to Tomorrowland as it appeared in 1956. To give you a rough idea where this picture is, the building on the right currently houses the Star Trader and Star Tours. The Rocket to the Moon attraction is located near the area where Redd Rocket’s Pizza Port and the entrance to Space Mountain is currently located. This incarnation of Tomorroland lasted until 1967 when the land was remodeled.
