This week we take a look at the construction around the Disneyland Resort and the introduction of Annual Passholder Movie Nights.
When Disneyland opened on Thursday morning there was a sign outside of the Opera House announcing the first ever Annual Passholder Movie Night. No mention of it was made on any Disney-owned websites or social media accounts. It looks like they left it up to the fans to spread the news.
Disneyland Annual Passholders can pick up a wrist band from Cast Members located in front of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. They can also vote on which movie will show that night. The choices for the first day were Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Wristbands were scheduled to be distributed until 5 PM. The showing began at 7 PM with Lion King winning the vote. The free screening did “sell out” but Cast Members on hand wouldn’t say when a Annual Passholder Movie Night would happen again.
Progress can now be seen at the future home of Earl of Sandwich. The construction walls have been significantly expanded. Not pictured but also in progress is flooring being installed inside and the first sections of paint being applied to the outside.
This week’s classic Disneyland picture is of Alice in Wonderland as it appeared in 1965. The attraction opened on June 14th, 1958. It was slightly updated in 1983 ( two show scenes were removed and the unbirthday scene was moved to the end of the ride).
