We got a look at the new style of maps coming next week to Walt Disney World. Below are the insides and outsides of the maps for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Water Parks, Downtown Disney, and ESPN Wide World of Sports. I don’t like the pastel shading of the maps, they blend in too much with the call-outs and it is very hard to distinguish one attraction/building from another. A more realistic larger version would have been easier to read and understand. There are probably dozens of blue prints in the archives to give a more realistic view or us a GPS photo with some Photoshop editing to make a spectacular map and something that is easier to understand. With the map being so small, all of the call-outs run together.
Although I am a huge Disney fan, have been to the parks many times, and actively peruse several Disney sites each week, these maps have somehow clarified SO much to me. I understand the layout of the parks much better after just glancing at them quickly. I’m not sure how or why, but these maps make more sense to me than the old/current ones ever did.
I agree that the upside down maps are a really confusing and bad idea.
Also, it sure gives you the opinion that if you don’t have a Smart Phone, don’t bother coming as you won’t get the real current information!
No Fastpass information at all that I can see. Am I missing anything?
The FP logo is there, right next to the attraction name. I haven’t seen any that are missing.
It is possible to post, or make available slightly higher resolution versions of these pages? I have trouble reading them, but it might be just me. Thanks!
A bit amateurish that WDW chopped Fantasmic in half and created an inset for it instead. I’m assuming these scans weren’t cropped..?
It’s still listed as “The Barnstormer” – wha?
I guess it is still called The Barnstormer. Is there still a barn? Doesn’t seem to fit with The Great Goofini.
I like these! My only criticism: why are the images so SMALL? A map should take up at least 2 of those pages, not 1. And why is Epcot “backwards”?
The new maps all have North as “up” – the old Epcot map had South as “up”, so the new one seems upside down to us.
I was thinking the same thing. It may not be a problem for those who already know the parks, but for someone trying to get around for the first time, it would certainly be more helpful to have the map facing the way you would come in from the main entrance!
The only thing I can think of, if you’re comparing the map to a handheld GPS, they’ll coordinate better since a GPS seems to default to up=north. However, it’s really easy to reorient a map. 🙂 If you find the maps hard to use, be sure to leave a comment at Guest Services. We’ll see how long this experiment lasts.
Anyone notice the Animal Kingdom Map? Have they made the gap between Camp Minnie-Mickey and Africa bigger ready for Avatarland?

It’s March 1st, not April 1st. Looks like you put the wrong date in your content management system.
While I like the idea of the April Fool, you guys really should do a better job with your practical jokes. If you’re going to make fake “new” maps at least make it somewhat believable. I’ve seen better maps on old 1990s websites. Disney, with all their resources and their decades long history of producing quality and fun park maps could never have these maps pass quality control.
You’ll have to do much better next year to fool us.

a) Disney published these awful looking maps
b) They are a clever forgery by our jokey friends at Touring Plans
Can’t see how “a” could be true, so we’re left with “b”.
a) Personally, I like the new maps.
b) Why would they do that? I could see it being a joke if they did things like putting Mr. Toad back, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
Therefore I’m left with c) You don’t know what you are talking about.
