Have you always wanted to see your own artistic creation on display inside a Disneyland Resort theme park? There’s no shortcut to becoming a full-fledged Imagineer, but you can make a creative contribution to the new winter-themed edition of World of Color debuting inside Disney California Adventure this holiday season.
Disney recently announced a call for guests to submit their family’s seasonal holiday cards, which will be digitally scanned and incorporated into new projections for World of Color — Winter Dreams, as the limited-time variation of DCA’s nighttime fountain show will be known. See here for details on the artwork requirement and submission rules; all cards must be postmarked or delivered in person to the Anaheim Downtown Disney’s World of Disney store by September 20, 2013.
Disney tried incorporating guest imagery in its now-canceled The Magic, The Memories, and You! projection show on the it’s a small world facade with limited success. Hopefully this new implementation will be aesthetically improved, since it won’t be updated with new material on a daily basis. Even if the greeting cards turn out to be a gimmick, this announcement provides some fresh details on the new seasonal show, which will be hosted by “Olaf the Snowman” from the upcoming film Frozen. The segments of the show will feature:
- Snow – a breathtaking ride through winter
- Glow – a festive exploration of light
- Enchantment – a Disney•Pixar Toy Story version of The Nutcracker
- Spirit – a joyous sing-a-long
- Merry & Bright – a fantastic finale that features holiday light
World of Color — Winter Dreams will debut on November 15 and is expected to run through New Year’s 2014. We will bring you complete coverage when the production premieres.
