In Case You Missed It – Disney News and Rumors
The Oscars are this Sunday, so Disney Insider shared 10 Facts about Disney and the Oscars. I actually learned quite a few things. Like that Disney won its first “Best Original Song” Academy Award in 1940 for “When You Wish Upon a Star” from Pinocchio. (P.S.: Good luck to “Let It Go,” which is up for the same award this year!)
Ok…this cool. If you’re a big Disney movie buff, Disney just released a brand new movie streaming system that you’re gonna want to take advantage of. Read more about this new service called Disney Movies Anywhere! (Oh, and just for signing up, you’ll get a free copy of Pixar’s The Incredibles for a limited time.)
Have you ever wondered where Disney movies were geographically located? This breakdown guide takes a look at where all Disney stories likely took place. It’s quite fascinating.
It seems like just about everyone has released some sort of version of “Let It Go” out there. This version is pretty darn awesome…but not why you think. It’s a parody version by traffic reporter Bob Herzog called “Just Don’t Go,” and it is so very creative.
Hmm…so recently Disney acquired rights to be able to make future Indiana Jones movies…could it be in an effort to lock down Harrison Ford for Star Wars? Rumors indicate that Harrison Ford wants to do two more Indy films in exchange for being in Star Wars Episode VII.
Do you believe in Disney magic? Recently, a 14-year-old girl at Disney World lost a teddy bear that was given to her by her father before he passed away. Thanks to wonderful Cast Members, he was miraculously recovered. Read to learn more about the story.
We all know that Disney’s ticket prices just increased for Walt Disney World, but have you ever wondered about the breakdown, year by year? Check out this interesting chart that shows the progress. (Looks like 2006 was the largest single year jump, with prices increasing twice that year – a total jump of $7.25. 2013 was right behind it with a $6.00 jump for Magic Kingdom.)
The Disney Cruise Line is an incredible fleet. Those of us who have cruised aboard their ships know that. And this week, it was announced that in the 2014 Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Awards, DCL earned 13 first-place awards. Check out all the categories they won for on DisneyCruiseLineBlog.com
This week, the world lost a legend. (Or is he a god…?) Harold Ramis, famous for being involved with so many movies, such as Groundhog Day, Animal House, and of course Ghostbusters, passed away. In memory of him, take a peek at this look back at The Ghostbusters Spooktacular that premiered at Universal Studios Orlando when the park first opened. (I ain’t afraid of no ghosts!)
