The Magic, The Memories, and Merch! October 2014 Photo Report of the Disney Outlet Store

Today marks the end of October, and what a month it was. Our long national nightmare finally came to an end as Disney announced that the Sorcerer’s Hat would finally be leaving Hollywood Studios. Also leaving DHS will be the Legend of Jack Sparrow, bringing the total amount of attractions at the park down to something like two (give or take). A new lumberjack show made its debut at Epcot, nets around the Tree of Life came down at Animal Kingdom, and Marvel announced it would be making Disney approximately 100 billion dollars over the next five years. All of this and I somehow managed to sail on my first ever Disney Cruise. This may go down in the history books as the greatest month of all time, at least until next month.

Enough jibber jabber! Who is ready to hit the Outlets? Remember that clicking on any picture will open a full size version of it (don’t say we didn’t warn you.)

First up is a series of Alaska-inspired Disney plush.

 

The plush came from the Alaskan itinerary of the Disney Magic. Also from that ship came a whole bunch of t-shirts including this one from Greek Isles itinerary. Originally $24.95, now $9.99

 

Here’s a fantastic Minnie and Mickey post card from the Alaska sailing.

 

Earlier this week I did a full write up on the merchandise available during my cruise on the Disney Wonder, which you can read by CLICKING HERE. Spoiler Alert, there’s some pretty cool stuff there.

Next up is a lot of Haunted Mansion merchandise, which was a little strange to see considering Memento Mori recently opened up at the Magic Kingdom, and you’d think several of these could be sold there at full price, especially during the Halloween season. Right now we are at a high tide moment of Haunted Mansion items with some of the best stuff Disney has ever done arriving almost daily at the parks and Downtown Disney.

 

These shirts were originally $24.95, now $12.99.

 

This Haunted Mansion serving plate was originally $24.95, marked down to $11.99. At least I think it’s called a serving plate. Normally, I would have no idea what this even was, but because I ordered my girlfriend a fruit platter for our stateroom on the Disney Wonder, and the fruit was served on a silver version of one of these, now I know what they are used for. We store bananas on it at home.

 

These Haunted Mansion busts Christmas ornaments were originally $22.95, marked down to $9.99. I bought a set.

 

Speaking of Christmas ornaments, dedicated Outlet Report readers will remember my seeing the Disney transportation vehicle ornament set two months ago, and the regret I had for not buying it. Last month they were all gone, but in a nice surprise there were more available this month. Originally $39.95, these were marked down to $16.99. Now I have to somehow convince my girlfriend to let me put 9 Disney themed ornaments on our Christmas tree. I think I’ll take a page out of Quentin Taratino’s playbook and buy another set of truly awful Christmas ornaments and present 15 to her that I want to put on the tree, so that I can then negotiate and “settle” on “only 9.” The struggle is real folks, the struggle is real.

 

One thing we won’t be displaying this Christmas is one of these Mickey Mouse nutcrackers. Is it me, or does the Sorcerer Mickery nutcracker look like Bazooka Joe’s friend, Mort? These were originally $54.95 and now are $24.99. Actually, if these go down to $9.99 I may get the Sorcerer one just to prove to people down the road it actually existed.

 

The best days at the Outlets are when something I’ve wanted to buy for a long time finally show up, such as this Hats Required shirt. Originally $21.95, it was marked down to $9.99. I’ve been eyeballing this one at the World of Disney store for a long time (check it out, over a year!), and I couldn’t believe my eyes.

 

Does this shirt refer to the surfing lessons you can get at Typhoon Lagoon before the park officially opens? Is there anywhere else on WDW property that offers surfing? AM I LOSING MY MIND?!!

 

This next shirt was surreal. It has a giant oversized pocket in the middle of the shirt. That’s right, in the middle of the shirt. WHAAAAT?! Originally $36.95, this was now $14.99. WHO BOUGHT THIS SHIRT FOR $37?! I need names!

 

A whole bunch of Animal Kingdom shirts showed up, including this Kilimanjaro Safaris one. Originally $24.95, now $12.99. I thought this looked very good.

 

This “Himalayan Escapes” one is so surreal that I also love it. I am assuming it’a an Expedition Everest shirt, but I’m sure the boys at Radio Harambe will correct me if I’m wrong.

 

I believe this Kilimanjaro Safaris shirt didn’t sell because no one has seen a lion walking on that attraction in over 15 years.

 

Expedition Everest shirt that isn’t that good. Originally $27.95, now $12.99.

 

Of course, it’s not as bad as this Expedition Everest shirt. Who exactly is this for?

 

I blew the picture on this one, but this was my favorite of all the Expedition Everest shirts and takes a more technical look at the attraction. I’ll take a mulligan on this one, and as an apology I offer you the SATURDAY SIX on Reasons Animal Kingdom is NOT a Half Day Park.

 

Very artistic Snow White shirt that was undoubtedly sold at Tren-D at Downtown Disney. Originally $44.00, now $21.99.

 

I liked this children’s shirt. Originally $24.95, now $12.99.

 

I kinda like this WDW shirt, but the Mickey Mouse is so weird with his glasses like that I couldn’t buy it. Originally $29.95, now $12.99.

 

This was a pretty high quality Fort Wilderness sweatshirt. Originally $66.95, now $39.99

 

Some cool looking retro Epcot shirts came in. Originally $24.95, marked down to $12.99. I think these were introduced into Mouse Gear at Epcot earlier this summer.

 

With this hat, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith extends its dominant lead in the listing of Attractions With Most Merch Ending Up At The Outlets. Only Luigi’s Flying Tires will ever have a chance to take this one down.

 

These cups had a lot of weight to them. Originally $17.95, marked down to $7.99. With so many items this year using the Earful Tower instead of the Sorcerer’s Hat, it makes me wonder how long Disney knew it was taking the hat down.

 

Extremely sharp looking Expedition Everest themed travel mugs. Originally $19.95, now $11.99.

 

I loved these Animal Kingdom canteens. I bought several to give out to the kids in our family. Originally $16.99, marked down to $3.95.

 

For months the only buttons available were a Maleficent and a Star Wars Rebels villain, but this month several new versions arrived.

 

Here’s a next level bananas item. These mini-note pads are so small I’m trying to figure out what possible use they could be in anyone’s life.  The pads themselves are about the size of a quarter. For me to write anything that small I would more frustrated than Harry Potter after Dolores Umbridge gave him a blood quill and made him write “I Will Not Tell Lies.” Scratch that. I’m actually going to buy these little pads and hand them out with one of those giant erasers they now sell across property, just to screw with people’s minds.

 

Speaking of things I don’t understand, more PockitPals showed up, including a pretty cool one based around the Disneyland Skyway ride.

 

Another surprisingly large selection of Aulani merchandise this month.

 

Including this iPhone case. Originally $34.95, now $4.99.

 

Class of 2014 Duffy the Disney Bear.

 

A two pack of Animal Kingdom themed Vinylmation is now $6.99.

 

I will stand by the fact that the ONLY character that works in Vinylmation is Mickey Mouse, so I was actually considering getting one of these for a second ($3.99.)

 

I don’t even know which one of these is weirder.

 

Don’t ruin my dream that this DINOSAUR postcard was originally $17.95. I like to think of it being sold in the gift shop of the Four Seasons or Grand Floridian and some guy buying a dozen of them in a Brewster’s Millions remake.

 

Some more Beauty and the Beast items showed up, I believe from the store at the Magic Kingdom next to Gaston’s Tavern.

 

I believe these plates are also from that store and that they represent Be Our Guest Restaurant. Originally $39.95, now $19.99.

 

Now it’s time to hand over the reigns to Daisy Lauren of Daisy’s Best Week Ever fame. While I have been covering items from the Outlet store near Universal, Daisy is sacrificing herself helping us by covering the Outlet store near Downtown Disney.

Like my store, Daisy’s Outlet trip had a lot of Disney Cruise Line merchandise show up from the Alaska and Mediterranean sailings. She also had several items that weren’t at mine, such as this nifty Alaska shirt.

 

And this Disney Magic iPhone case.

 

Speaking of iPhone cases, it’s strange to see Frozen merchandise show up at the Outlets with any sort of discount.

 

Most Frozen merchandise is just sold at full price, such as these Anna and Elsa dresses. There are very few items outside of food sold for full price at the Outlet stores.

 

An incredibly detailed Peter Pan snow globe.

 

A little odd to see this cute Mickey Mouse Christmas tree topper out right before the holiday season.

 

Daisy scored one of the all time greatest piece of merchandise I have ever seen at the Outlet stores. A FASTPASS HOLDER.

Oh wait, it gets even MORE bizarre than that. How about a wooden replica of the MAMA MELROSE sign. This can be yours for just $79.99 (and a prerequisite drug test.)

 

 

There are actually two Disney outlet stores in Orlando. Both are in Orlando Premium Outlet shopping complexes, and they are called Disney’s Character Warehouse, presumably because The Land Of Misfit Toys was already trademarked. There is one Character Warehouse located on International Drive close to Universal Studios (4951 International Dr, Orlando, FL 32819), and the other is on Vineland Avenue, right across I-4 near the exits to Disney World (8200 Vineland Ave, Orlando, FL 32821). For this edition of MMM, we went to the location near Universal.
