FastPass+ information for Disney's Animal Kingdom

Well, we all had a feeling the tiering system was coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and turns out, it was. With the roll out of FastPass+ for the attractions that will be found in Pandora – The World of Avatar, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will officially become a park that offers the tiered FastPass+ system.

Here are the FastPass+ options that you have to choose from going forward:

Tier 1 (Choose 1):

  • Na’vi River Journey
  • Avatar Flight of Passage

Tier 2 (Choose 2):

One question I’ve seen being asked is, “Do I have to choose one option from Tier 1?” This is especially relevant for those who don’t care to visit Pandora. As of right now, unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that you have the option of skipping the attractions in Tier 1 and choosing three options from Tier 2.

Other parks that offer the tiered system include Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Currently, Magic Kingdom is the only park that does not offer a tiered option. At the Magic Kingdom, Guests can choose to make their FastPass+ reservations for any attractions they so wish.

  • Pandora has exposed a flaw in the FP+ system by penalizing those who do not care about this new area by losing a FP in what are now tier 2 attractions. Hopefully either this will be addressed in a MyMagic future update or, once Pandora fever died down, AK will go back to the single tier system. I would prefer the former as this issue will be revisited once Star Wars land and Toy Story lands open.

  • I noted that it´s possible to book the Tier 1 Fast pass (at Pandora) and after confirmed it´s possible to modify this fastpass to any atraction of the Tier 2 🙂

  • I am wondering about the capacities of the two attractions, which will impact the wait times (at least in the long-term–they will both be crazy busy when they first open).
I also am curious if entrance to the entire area will have to initially be limited to avoid gridlock (and will only fastpass holders be allowed into the area).

  • Does the Rivers Of Light happen every night.

  • Will child swap be available for Flight of Passage?

  • This is a question I think I know the answer to but have to ask anyway – are FP+ for Pandora only available on May 27th and after? I keep hoping they might make them available for the soft opening since my trip is the week before it opens.
