Updates to Mission: SPACE and New Space-Themed Restaurant at Epcot

Currently, Mission: SPACE is closed for a lengthy refurbishment, but not much information was known about what work was actually going on; though, now we do. Turns out, there are some pretty good changes in store for the space-themed Epcot pavilion.

In the Future World attraction, an all new Green Mission will take Guests on a tour around the Earth. With this new mission, younger cadets to join the adventure at Mission: SPACE for the very first time. There will also be an updated Orange Mission that will make the trip to Mars even more spectacular. Mission: SPACE will reopen to Guests later this August.

However, that isn’t all the news that came out about the Mission: SPACE pavilion. A brand new restaurant which will be located adjacent to Mission: SPACE will also be added. This new dining establishment will invite guests to travel into space, high above the earth for an unforgettable dining experience among the stars.

The new space-themed restaurant will be operated by the Patina Restaurant Group which operates several other restaurants at Walt Disney World including Tutto Italia and Via Napoli at Epcot and Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs.

I certainly can’t wait to enjoy this out-of-this-world dining experience once it officially opens. However, we don’t have an official opening date for this restaurant yet, so stay tuned as we find out more information.

  • This article says that “Mission: Space will reopen to guests later this August.” The Touring Plans refurbishment schedule says October 1, and personalized touring plans for late September show that it will be closed. Is August correct, and the website hasn’t been updated? Or is the website correct and this blog article wrong? My fastpass date is 3 days out….I have to know!

    • As far as Disney says in all of their information about the update, currently the date the attraction returns is August.

I have heard the rumors that that date may be pushed back though, and Disney’s own website does have the reopen date as October 1. Not sure if that’s a glitch or if it really has been pushed back.

I can only go with what Disney has officially confirmed, as of right now. And they’ve officially confirmed August.

      • Thanks. Fingers crossed!

  • They NEED to have Walle and Eve dancing in space!

  • Has Disney announced any specific changes to the height requirement for the Green mission? I’m assuming they mean to with the quote about the youngest guests.

    • They have not shared what the height requirement will be just yet.
