Yesterday, Disney released a brand new update for its My Disney Experience app and let me tell you, this was a fantastic update! It includes some perks that have long been asked, as well as some other very helpful tools for those traveling to Walt Disney World.

First things first, Guests can now keep track of their purchases that are charged to their room’s hotel account. Genius! Now, we can see, at a glance, right from our phones how much our bill will be, instead of getting that shocked expression at the end of your trip when you paid your bill.

My Disney Experience Updates

Another nice perk courtesy of this update is that for those who are the Disney Dining Plan, you can now keep track of how many credits you have left. Again, another hugely welcome addition, because now you don’t have to keep your receipts at the end of your meals to keep track; you simply just have to look at your phone. It will not only tell you how many you have left, but it will also alert you to how many credits you have total and how many you have already used. Another genius addition!

The last major addition with this latest update of the My Disney Experience app is that Annual Passholders can now renew their pass right from their phone. Easy peasy! You can also make changes to the type of pass you’re wanting to renew. You can renew your whole family at once, or if just one person in your family needs their pass renewed, you can do that with ease too. (For example, my husband and I have two different renewal dates for our Annual Passes…so I would be able to choose to renew just my pass when it’s up for expiration.)

Overall, I think these are some fantastic additions to the My Disney Experience app and I’m excited to see where things will continue to go in the future. (PS: Disney….if you’re reading this…can you please allow me as an AP holder to put my credit card in so that I can just use my MagicBand for my charges – and use it with my AP discount? Thank you in advance! Love, all AP holders!)

  • Hi, I updated the app but can’t see tabs for dining credits or account… does it only appear after check in?

    • If you tap on your reservation, it should show up I that page.

      • I also updated the app but cannot find where to check charges to your room or where to keep track of DDP credits, even after tapping on my reservation. Am I just not looking in the right place?!

We don’t usually stay on property – it would be really handy to assign a card to my wristband so I could pay with the wristband and a pin code – as long as it was a secure way to pay. It would be so much easier than looking for credit cards every time I wanted to pay – in fact I wouldn’t need to take a bag with me through the bag check!

  • Wow! Thanks for the heads up! Last time the major update came, I was actually at WDW and it threw me for a loop. This time, I don’t arrive until next Tuesday, so I can brace myself!

Do we know if DVC Annual Passholders can renew using the app? I’ll be eligible to renew on 9/25. Thank you again, Rikki!

  • So, I just downloaded the app. I had already checked in online for my upcoming trip and my folio for next week is already there. I also checked on my November trip, and that, still has the ready to check-in in 35 days layout.

Do, if you’ve checked-in, on line or at the resort, you should be able to see your folio!

  • Does anyone know if you will now be able to use the DDP to pre-order at restaurants like Satu’li Canteen?

  • OK, it’s time for me to renew AP. I’ve been playing with the updated app for 20 minutes, tapped anything remotely close to tickets or admission, and I still can’t find where to renew.

  • This is awesome, considering how heavily integrated everything else is into the Disney app it was always disappointing to look at the bottom of your receipts to see how many credits you had left!
