Halloween festivities continue this week at Disneyland, with even more Halloween parties! Read on to learn more in this week’s Disneyland preview.

Special Events and Notes

Halloween season is officially in full swing at the Disneyland Resort now. In addition to yearly favorites Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout is getting a new Halloween makeover of its own — in the evenings, it will transform into Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark. The attraction will remain in its normal mode during the day.

Mickey’s Halloween Party continues this week, and will be happening on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Make sure you check out Guy’s preview for all of the details, and to learn how to get the most out of it. Note that this week’s parties are sold out, as are most other parties this season. If you’d like to attend, get your tickets sooner rather than later. There is, of course, special merchandise available in conjunction with the parties.

Have you had a chance to check out the new Halloween-themed overlays at Disney’s California Adventure or check out the seasonal treats? The decor in Cars Land is really outstanding — they of course have a healthy supply of pumpkins and orange, but the land really goes through a complete transformation for the season. The lighting effects on the rock work at Radiator Springs Racers, in particular, are incredible. Also, lots of your favorite characters are dressed up for the holiday, and of course there is plenty of Halloween merchandise you can buy. Check out Rikki’s preview for more information about what to expect.

On a personal note, anyone that has paid any attention to my articles is likely aware that I am a big, BIG fan of the Disneyland corn dog. With that being the case, I was pretty excited to hear that the Hot Dog of the Month at White Water Snacks at the Grand Californian is a plate of nachos, except instead of chips, it’s served over a pile of mini corn dogs. Sweet fancy Moses. Don’t delay, though, they are only there through the end of September — this week is pretty much your last chance.

Crowds

Low crowds continue this week at Disneyland.  The weekend sees average to low crowds, and the rest of the week will see even smaller crowds.

Full details, including park-by-park crowd levels, are available on our Crowd Calendar.

Weather

Anaheim is seeing an uptick in the temperatures this week — it starts off with a very pleasant high of 77, but the rest of the week is pushing 90.  On the upside, no rain of any sort is being forecast this week, so you should be able to leave the umbrella at home.

As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.

Shows

Disneyland Resort has a full slate of shows on the weekend, and a very lean schedule on the other days. Note that special shows will run at Disneyland Park for evenings with the Halloween Parties; consult the daily schedules for MondayWednesday, and Friday for more details on those shows.  Detailed show schedules, including stage shows like Mickey and the Magical Map, can be found here.

Admission and Hours

As indicated above, Disneyland Park will be closing early on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for Mickey’s Halloween Party. All three of those parties are sold out, so if you don’t already have tickets, be aware that you’re not going to be able to go to Disneyland Park on those evenings.  California Adventure, however, will be open on all three nights.

Southern California Passholders are blocked out on Saturday, while Southern California Select Passholders are blocked out on Saturday and Sunday. All other Annual Passports will be honored all days of the week. For those of you buying tickets as day guests, single-day tickets are at Regular cost ($110 adult/$104 child) on Saturday, Sunday, and Friday, and Value ($97/$91) the remainder of the week.

Regular park hours (excluding Extra Magic Hours/Magic Mornings) are as follows this week:

Disneyland8-118-118-610-98-610-88-7
California Adventure8-108-109-810-89-810-88-11

As per usual, the parks will open one hour early for eligible guests at Disneyland Park Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and at Disney’s California Adventure Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Resort guests can take advantage of these hours every day of their stay for Extra Magic Hours, while guests eligible for Magic Mornings can use that benefit one day at Disneyland Park only. Full park hours can be found by clicking on each date in the Crowd Calendar.

Refurbishments

It’s a pretty good time to be at Disneyland, as most attractions are open for business! At Disneyland Park, River Belle Terrace is closed, Main Street Cinema remains closed through September 29,  and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters will be closing briefly from September 25-27, but everything else is up and running.

At California Adventure, Goofy’s Sky School is currently closed.

Looking ahead, Big Thunder Mountain is planning a refurbishment October 2-20, and it’s a small world will be closed from October 23 through some time in November. Keep those dates in mind if those attractions are an important part of your trip!

As always, you can see the full slate of refurbishments by checking here.

That should do it for this week’s preview. Check back next week and every week to find out what’s coming down the pike! Got questions? Aware of anything else that prospective guests should know about? Let us know in the comments!
