Video: Meeting Talking Donald Duck, Mickey, and Minnie at Disney California Adventure

Yesterday at Disney California Adventure I was in the right place at the right time and was able to experience a rare meet and greet with multiple talking characters. Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and Minnie Mouse were meeting and they were very chatty. Check out our video below for the full encounter.

Overall the meet and greet was very impressive. The characters interacted with each other and told a cute little story about Donald roaring at lions. They also seamlessly responded to my compliments on their clothes. Maybe this is a bit hyperbolic but I could see a child experiencing this and remembering it for years as a highlight of their Disney visit. Even if you’re not a “character  person” at all you have to admit that a group of talking characters interacting this fluidly with guests and each other is remarkable.

My friends Sarah and Tom Bricker from DisneyTouristBlog also met the characters. Here’s their video:

Chatted with Mickey, Minnie, and Donald!! 😭❤️ See link in bio for more info! 😉

It’s important to note that this meet and greet was only a test, and there’s no guarantee on if or when it will roll out to other parks. It’s also unknown if this meet and greet will take place again. There were no published meeting times in Disney’s time guides or app, and their total time meeting was very short.

Talking Mickey Mouse has met in Magic Kingdom for years now but this is the first time the public has seen multiple characters interacting at the same time. What do you think of Disney’s talking characters? Do you hope Disney makes meet and greets like this more widespread? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

  • Meeting the Disney characters is usually the most memorable part of a child’s visit and this would be great. I remember how my grandson was impressed with Mickey talking at Disney World and this would be even more magical. Hope this comes to all the parks.
