Lots of activity this week at Disneyland! First and foremost, expect a lot of guests at the resort for Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend. The 10K is held on Saturday, and there will be a half marathon on Sunday morning to wrap up the event. The races add a wonderful energy to the resort, but they also bring a lot of people to the area, even if they aren’t hitting the attractions. Between the runners and the people there to support them, the area may feel more crowded than the crowd levels (which are based on attraction wait times) would suggest. Notably, this will be the last runDisney event at Disneyland for the foreseeable future; it was recently announced that there would not be any events in 2018 on account of the construction for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and other resort improvements.

There have been holiday decorations percolating up into the resort since the day after Halloween, but the holiday season is now OFFICIALLY underway at Disneyland. The daytime parade has been replaced by A Christmas Fantasy ParadeBelieve… In Holiday Magic takes over for the evening fireworks, and its a small world Holiday is now open for the season. Make sure you check out Rikki’s preview to learn more about what you can expect for the holidays.

Crowds

Crowds will be notably higher this weekend for the Superhero Half Marathon event, with Saturday having the highest crowds of the week.  The remainder of the week is far more modest.

Full details, including park-by-park crowd levels, are available on our Crowd Calendar.

Weather

Remarkably pleasant and consistent weather all week long.  Highs in the mid-70s, lows in the mid-50s, and dry. Put another way, should be a gorgeous week in Southern California.

As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.

Shows

Really light show schedule during the week, although both the Christmas parade and fireworks will run at least once each day. Weekend show schedules are much more full. Detailed show schedules, including smaller productions like Storytelling at Royal Theatre, can be found here.

Show Sat Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri
Fantasmic! 2 2 0 0 0 0 2
A Christmas Fantasy Parade 2 2 1 1 1 1 2
Believe … In Holiday Magic 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
World of Color 2 2 1 1 1 1 2

Admission and Hours

Getting to that time of year when Passholder blockouts start to creep back into play: Southern California Passholders are blocked out on Saturday, while Southern California Select Passholders are blocked out on Saturday & Sunday. All other Annual Passports will be honored all days of the week. For those of you buying tickets as day guests, single-day tickets are at Regular cost ($110 adult/$104 child) Saturday & Sunday, Peak ($124/$118) on Friday, and Value ($97/$91) the remaining days of the week.

Regular park hours (excluding Extra Magic Hours/Magic Mornings) are as follows this week:

Sat Sun Mon Tues Wed Thur Fri
Disneyland 9-12 9-12 9-10 9-9 9-9 8-11 8-12
California Adventure 9-11 9-11 9-8 9-8 9-8 8-8 8-11

As per usual, the parks will open one hour early for eligible guests at Disneyland Park Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and at Disney’s California Adventure Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Resort guests can take advantage of these hours every day of their stay for Extra Magic Hours, while guests eligible for Magic Mornings can use that benefit one day at Disneyland Park only. Full park hours can be found by clicking on each date in the Crowd Calendar.

Refurbishments

Most everything is currently ready to roll at Disneyland. At Disneyland Park, River Belle Terrace is indefinitely closed. At California Adventure, Goofy’s Sky School is currently closed. Everything else is currently open, and no other refurbishments are scheduled for the remainder of the year. That said, just as attractions can go down unexpectedly over the course of the day, more significant issues can result in unexpected closures; as of now, however, it should be a more or less full slate of attractions until the new year.

As always, you can see the full slate of refurbishments by checking here.

That should do it for this week’s preview. Check back next week and every week to find out what’s coming down the pike! Got questions? Aware of anything else that prospective guests should know about? Let us know in the comments!
