ICYMI

How are you handling this winter? Are you enjoying being bundled up or can you not wait until you see the sun peeking out of the clouds again?

Also, do you have Valentine’s Day plans? If you were going to be lucky enough to be in Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Universal, or Disney Cruise Line this weekend, how would you celebrate?

This week, we had quite a few important pieces of news to pass your way. Disney’s quarterly earnings were released, some great trailers were released, and more.

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Disney reported their quarterly earnings this week and they jumped 32%, in large part thanks to a little film called Star Wars. However, Disney has one little issue that’s plaguing the company and that is ESPN.

Also announced during the earnings call was when Frozen will officially debut on Broadway. Will you see the musical or are you officially Frozened out? (Oh also, there will be a Frozen TV holiday special.)

Do we have a glimpse of the upcoming Na’vi River Journey’s layout?

In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of January 29, 2016

by on January 29, 2016

ICYMIThis week was a week that included a great national holiday — National Chocolate Cake Day! I celebrated with a delightful piece of delicious chocolate goodness. If you didn’t…it’s never too late to celebrate! Enjoy a piece right now.

If you missed the news this week, I have it for you. You can catch up on a great interview with Disney Legend X Atencio, learn about a new shop slated for Disney Springs, and more.

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

You may remember the story of Walt Disney Company employees who had to train their replacements from about a year ago. Well, a couple of the former tech workers are filing a lawsuit accusing the company and two outsourcing firms of conspiring to replace workers with less costly foreign ones using H-1B visas.

This is a fantastic interview! D23 recently interviewed Disney Legend X Atencio about his days as a Disney storyteller.

Could a new Hawaiian retailer be coming to Disney Springs? According to the Orlando Business Journal, that would be a yes.

A new venue is on tap to be built for the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. What would you like to see?

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. If you are not reading Floyd Norman’s blog, you need to be! This week he talks about the Walt Disney that he knew.

Star Wars and Marvel…looks like they are continuing forever.

Disney Historian David Gerstein shares his thoughts about the recently rediscovered Oswald Short that will be able to be found as part of an exclusive digital bonus on the Disney Movies Anywhere app.

To make way for the refreshed The Muppets which comes back from its winter hiatus next week, a fun video was released that flashes back, in a good way.

In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of January 8, 2016

by on January 8, 2016

ICYMIAre you ready to run? I’m ready to cheer! I’ve got my Mickey glove for high fives on as we speak…so swrry for typos. 😉

If you see my out on the race course while running any time this weekend, come over and give me a high five!

This week, you likely missed a lot! There’s a preview of the movies coming out from Disney this year, a look at the backstory of the new King Kong attraction, and much more! Let’s get to it because I’ve got to get back to cheering!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

The Orlando Sentinel took a look at those of us fans who like to celebrate theme park attraction’s last days. Have you ever been in a park and celebrate the last day of an attraction? I’ve celebrated the last day of Maelstrom being open and it was bittersweet; very cool to be there the last day, but incredibly sad too.

Wow…The Motley Fool threw down. See why they say that Disney has been phoning it in lately and why it needs to stop. Do you agree?

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

I’m sure you’ve heard about the scuffle that happened at Bongos at Disney Springs on Christmas Day. If you missed it, here’s what all the ruckus was about and how a simple fight turned into a bigger scare.

The Edision is just one of the many restaurants headed to Disney Springs in 2016. Take a look at the permits that were released. While it’s interesting to see what’s been announced, it’s also interesting to see things that may be coming that haven’t officially been announced yet in relation to this project.

In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of December 18, 2015

by on December 18, 2015

ICYMIHave you seen it yet? Are you seeing it tonight? It is time. Hello Star Wars! Do you feel the force?

This week, we look forward to 2016 at Walt Disney World, celebrate 90 years with Dick Van Dyke, and so much more!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Have you been noticing on social media that Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ park lot has been closing to park guests in the early afternoon to open back up later. Here is a potential reason why.

While 2015 has been a fascinating year, it’s shaping up like 2016 will be even better. Here’s what you can expect to see happen with the Orlando area in the coming year. Oh and here is what you can expect to see just at Walt Disney World in 2016.

On your upcoming visit to Adventureland, you may find a swashbuckling pirate or a member of the Royal Navy just wandering around.

Dang Dick Van Dyke looks fantastic! I can’t believe he just celebrated his 90th birthday! And where else do you celebrate turning 90? Disneyland! Of course, the park would do it up in style to celebrate one of their Legends on such a special day. Were you there? Oh and here are 10 things you may not have known about the famous actor.

The Walt Disney Company was recently named a leader in inclusion by the Trevor Project.

A long time ago…in a galaxy far, far away…Jimmy Fallon created the best thing you’ll see this week…ok…second best thing. (The Force Awakens will likely be the best.)

Bob Iger is already claiming that by purchasing Star Wars, they struck more than gold. And analysts agree that while the purchase seemed a bit crazy at first, Disney made the right move.

The 8 year old girl who was severely burned in an arson fire that killed her father and three siblings is getting an all-expense-paid trip to Disney World.

by on December 11, 2015

ICYMIThe countdown is on! One week! Star Wars is in one week! Are you ready?

You may have missed a lot this week…such as Miss Piggy and Michelle Obama reading “The Night Before Christmas,” how to make your Christmas tree Disney-fied, and much more! Who’s ready to get to it?

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

This week, Disney unveiled Walt Disney’s office restored. It looks incredible! Just like Walt could walk around the corner and sit down at the desk.

Speaking of Walt, his birthday was this past weekend. This article has a great little video celebrating Walt.

We all said goodbye to Captain EO this past weekend at Epcot. To celebrate, Yahoo shared “The Making of ‘Captain EO’: Lucas, Coppola, and Michael Jackson’s Messy, Miraculous Disney Space Adventure“. Also, if you haven’t listened to The Disney Dish with Jim Hill about this topic, make sure you do! It was fascinating.
