In Case You Missed It!

Have you been busy dying eggs and eating the ears off chocolate bunnies? Here’s what you missed this week!

In Case You Missed It – Disney News and Rumors

Easter is this weekend and one of my favorite things that Walt Disney World used to do was televise their Easter Day Parade? There was nothing like waking up with Joan London and Alan Thicke as they shared commentary about all the Easter happenings. Today, I have for you the 1990 parade. Unfortunately there are a few pieces missing, but it’s still fun to watch! (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5 Part 6, Part 7, Part 8) It’s also a nice reminder of when these parades weren’t super over produced and we actually got to watch the parade! If anyone else has any of these old parades, you should totally post them on YouTube. I’m always looking for these videos around Easter. I miss this parade so much!

Parents Magazine had a great article about the “Top 5 Things To Do With Preschoolers at Walt Disney World.” There were some great suggestions for parents to consider.

Have you ever noticed that a lot of things related to Disney revolve around birds? There are birds everywhere in many of Disney’s films and in the theme parks. Find out more. (My favorite birds…the seagulls from Finding Nemo. Mine!)

In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed It!

Still have “it’s a small world” stuck in your head from all the 50th anniversary celebrations? Me too.

On Thursday, Good Morning America helped to celebrate the 50th anniversary of “it’s a small world” with a global sing-along. I may be a softy, but I totally teared up during the performance. To me, it is proof that Walt’s dream is alive and well. (Also, a happy 50th anniversary should also be shared with Carousel of Progress, Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln, and Ford’s Magic Skyway.  All of these attractions premiered at the 1964 New York World’s Fair.)  Share with me in the comments your favorite of these World’s Fair attractions!

It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears

It’s a world of hope and a world of fears…

Darn it…there I go again! Here’s more that you potentially missed this week!

In Case You Missed It – Disney News and Rumors

In more celebration of “it’s a small world” here are some by the numbers facts that you may not have known. (The boats only hold 16 people? I could have sworn I’ve been crammed into a boat with way more people than that before! Guess it only just feels that way.)

In Case You Missed It!

It’s time to head to the theaters again! Today, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is released! Who else is excited to continue this awesome saga?

In other news…I’ve got the fun goodies that you missed this week! Here’s a look. Let me know what your favorite is!

In Case You Missed It – Disney News and Rumors

Have you thought about seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier (it’s supposed to be really good!), but maybe know nothing about the prior Captain America movie? (Or maybe even the other subsequent Marvel movies that followed?) Here’s a great Captain America 101 that will help you out and tell you all you need to know to lead into this sequel. (Otherwise, it’s a good refresher for those of you headed to the theater this weekend.)

To gear up for Captain America, ABC recently aired a special called, “Marvel Studios: Assembling A Universe.” It’s now available online to view for those who may have missed it the first time, and it is a fascinating exploration of the Marvel universe, as well as what’s to come for the future. (Hello, Guardians and Avengers 2!)

Have you been dreaming, maybe fantasizing, about all the magic and wonder that would take place while you plan your itinerary for a potential Disney Cruise? With the announcement of the Summer 2015 dates, it’s certainly easy to do! (I am!) So, while you were busy yearning about sitting on the beach somewhere, I thought I’d share some other news and fun you may have missed. Enjoy!

In Case You Missed It – Disney News and Rumors

Have you wondered what old school Frontierland used to look like at Disneyland? These photos give us all a glimpse!

Are you ready for a good laugh? Watch as comic Greg Benson cell phone crashes other guests at Disneyland.

We know that Disney Springs (Downtown Disney’s new name when the refurbishment is all over) will house quite a few new shops and restaurants. According to the Orlando Business Journal, one new restaurant appears to be from the Patina Restaurant Group, which is also behind the best pizza in all of Walt Disney World at Via Napoli. It will be interesting to see what they come up with!

We’ve seen the beautiful work that’s taken place with the costumes that have been created for the new Disney Festival of Fantasy parade at the Magic Kingdom. In this interview with Mirena Rada, a costume designer for the parade, we learn “What Really Goes into a Disney Parade Costume.” It really is incredible the amount of work that went into these costumes…like the fact that to coral found in The Little Mermaid unit was baked for 16 hours!

In Case You Missed It!

Have you been watching the new Disney Festival of Fantasy footage with as much fervor as I have been? If so, here is some other fun you may have missed seeing this week! Lots of great stuff! Let me know your favorite in the comments!

In Case You Missed It – Disney News and Rumors

This fantastic excerpt called “Reaching My Autistic Son Through Disney” is a must read. It’s all about how Disney movies gave an autistic boy his voice. There are no words…just read.

Disney has made Fortune’s List of the World’s Most Admired Companies! Check out to see where it ranks and why.

Are you excited about the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival? WESH shared the must try items found at the Outdoor Kitchens for this year’s Festival. (I also learned that according to executive chef, Jens Dahlmann, the Piggylicious bacon cupcake’s original name was going to be mancake….I think they made the right choice in changing that one.)

In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed It!

Come on…admit it, this week you were likely trying to figure out what your John Travolta inspired name is (mine is “Ruari Nicheems”). Here is some interesting content you may have missed thanks to all the name mispronouncing fun. Let me know your favorite in the comments!

In Case You Missed It – Disney News and Rumors

First up, this week I found four different and interesting history articles:

Did you know that at one point, Epcot was going to have an Equatorial Africa Pavilion? It was quite far along in development, which allows us the chance to find out more in this fantastic and in-depth article that takes a look at what would have been included in the area, as well as showing some wonderful pieces of some of the models that were built.

I love this so very much! Here are 18 Rarely Seen Color Photographs of Disneyland…my favorite is the one with Walt sitting around his apartment with his family.

In Case You Missed It!

Lots of fun was had this week! What did I find to brighten your Friday? Read on to find out!

In Case You Missed It – Disney News and Rumors

The Oscars are this Sunday, so Disney Insider shared 10 Facts about Disney and the Oscars. I actually learned quite a few things. Like that Disney won its first “Best Original Song” Academy Award in 1940 for “When You Wish Upon a Star” from Pinocchio. (P.S.: Good luck to “Let It Go,” which is up for the same award this year!)

Ok…this cool. If you’re a big Disney movie buff, Disney just released a brand new movie streaming system that you’re gonna want to take advantage of. Read more about this new service called Disney Movies Anywhere! (Oh, and just for signing up, you’ll get a free copy of Pixar’s The Incredibles for a limited time.)

Have you ever wondered where Disney movies were geographically located? This breakdown guide takes a look at where all Disney stories likely took place. It’s quite fascinating.

It seems like just about everyone has released some sort of version of “Let It Go” out there. This version is pretty darn awesome…but not why you think. It’s a parody version by traffic reporter Bob Herzog called “Just Don’t Go,” and it is so very creative.

In Case You Missed It – Disney News and Rumors

Did you ever wonder what happens to some of the food and liquid waste from Walt Disney World? It turns out, we’re riding Space Mountain and Soarin’ because of it! In this interesting article that was published in the Orlando Sentinel,, they share that one plant is taking Disney’s waste and turning it into electricity. Well, I can say that certainly learned something today!

In Case You Missed It!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! My loving present for you all today is the latest in Disney news, as well as some random fun too! Enjoy! (And let me know what you liked in the comments too!)

In Case You Missed It – Disney News and Rumors

Looking for romantic date ideas while spending time at Walt Disney World. Babble has some great ideas on how to have a fairy tale evening. (My romantic date idea: Go mini-golfing while at Disney. Hear me out. While it’s not an option that many would necessarily consider as romantic, I like it because it sort of takes you to when you went on these kind of dates back in the day. You get to have a fun-filled competition with your sweetie and maybe make a fun bet-like loser buys ice cream to share after at Ghirardelli. I’m a full believer in the mini-golf date!)
