In Case You Missed It!

Congrats to Big Hero 6 and Feast for their big Oscar wins! Super exciting for Walt Disney Animation!

This week, we’ll take a look at the recently announced Chairman of Parks and Resorts, how Disneyland fans reacted to a ticket price increase in 1996, and the trailer for Frozen Fever, plus more!

Congrats to Disney Cruise Line!  They won multiple awards from Cruise Critic’s Cruiser’s Choice Awards for 2015, including the big one…Best Overall…an award they’ve won for 3 years in a row! Check out all the honors they received.

Disney has filled the role left vacant by Tom Staggs move to Chief Operating Officer. This week, Disney announced their new pick for Chairman of Parks and Resorts, Bob Chapek. It will certainly be interesting to see what this means for the parks…one thing I noticed off the bat is that he’s awful light on parks experience. What do you think about this move?

In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of February 20, 2015

In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed It!

Who’s going to see McFarland, USA this weekend? It looks like an interesting film and a great addition to the Disney sports film legacy.

In this week’s post, we’ll try to avoid sharks, interview Baymax, and celebrate with Cinderella, plus more!

ABC News recently took a look at some of the unique burgers you can get at ESPN Club at Disney’s BoardWalk. I have to tell you, having had a peanut butter burger before, it’s actually quite good…though not sure about the addition of jelly, but it seems like this is more of a savory jelly than anything else, so I’d be game.

What a great Valentine’s Day experience! This couple visited not one, not two, but three different Disney Parks Resorts in 24 hours! Would you ever attempt something like that, if you could?

In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of February 13, 2015

In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed It!

Happy Friday the 13th!  While I can avoid walking under ladders and breaking mirrors, I cannot stay away from black cats, given that I own one. Oh well. Guess that means bad luck for me. (He’s worth it. He’s such a sweetie.)

Also, here is your reminder that tomorrow is the day. If you haven’t bought something for your sweetheart yet, better do it now. And for those who are not relationshipped up…never fear! To quote one of my favorite TV shows, Parks and Recreation, “Treat Yo Self!” (And also make sure you tell a friend or a family member how much you love them. I made sure to send my parents and brother Valentine’s Day cards just to tell them how much they mean to me.)

Today, journey with me as we take a selfie, feel our Spidey sense flare up as there are changes afoot, and win a Grammy. (Ok…I didn’t win a Grammy…where’s Kanye championing my cause?)  Anyway…let’s get to it!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Walt Disney World…wait…first…let me take a selfie. Ok…so, back to what I was discussing…Walt Disney World was named as the second most popular place to take a selfie. I’m gonna be honest…I do it all the time. So, I’d say the findings are correct.

This family is traveling, by foot, to Disneyland to Walt Disney World to honor their daughter who passed. I wish them the best of luck in their mission.

In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed It!

Ok Mr. Groundhog…I have a bone to pick with you. Why do you always have to see your shadow? I am so done with winter! Can we please start getting to spring here soon? I’d like to not be freezing any more.

So, it looks like this week was a big one for the Walt Disney Company;  their first quarter earnings were released, Tom Staggs got a promotion, Shanghai Disneyland was pushed back, and more. Find out everything in this week’s edition of “In Case You Missed It”

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Looks like we’re one step closer to finding out who will become Bob Iger’s successor. Tom Staggs was named as COO of the Walt Disney Company. Though, it isn’t 100% that Tom Staggs will get the top spot, this is a pretty good sign.

Disney released its earnings for the first quarter of the 2015 fiscal year. See how things all shook out.

In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed It!

Who is ready for some football? Who is ready for commercials? Who is ready to gorge themselves in delicious food? (I’m ready for the last two…not really into the game this year…)

Anyway….I’m here with articles that run the gambit this week.  We take a look at the top hotels in Orlando, just who could take the whip from Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones movies, and much more!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

A very thought-provoking article that asks many questions, as we move towards the end of Bob Iger stewarding the ship, such as has the Disney brand been diluted and should the company may be consider looking outside its walls for its next CEO? Lots of things to ponder from this one. A very good read indeed.

Disney is well known for its success in running its theme parks. Many executives have written books on how Disney achieves its success. One such executive is Lee Cockerell, who shares in this article just some of the tips executives and business owners should consider when managing their own company that Disney employs within their walls.

In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed It!

I promise that this week’s “In Case You Missed It” has not be deflated in any way, shape, or form; it is perfectly intact. No DeflateGate here!

This week’s article features a plethora of fun including a cool relic from 1955 Tomorrowland, an article about what could be behind Frozen’s popularity, and more!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Congrats to the all new Four Seasons resort! It was named as one of AAA’s Five Diamond Award recipients, making it the only Five Diamond resort in Orlando.

Reports were released of the injuries associated with rides at the major theme parks in Orlando; here are this quarter’s results.

Oh my god, I’m in love! Have you seen the new Starbucks/Disney mugs? I’m not one who usually has to collect coffee mugs, despite my massive love for coffee, but these I think are gonna be must-haves. (I’m also gonna need that plastic tumbler too.)

In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed It!

Whew! This week was full of a lot of interesting articles. There’s so much that we just need to dive right in! We’ve got movie news, Disney Cruise Line saving passengers from other cruise lines, the latest Universal rumor, and more!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Yikes. Well, this one isn’t the best news. Disney’s Animal Kingdom made the list as one of the”10 worst zoos for elephants” in 2014.

Have you noticed that many of the arcades at Walt Disney World are no longer offering games where you can win prizes. This is potentially the reason behind the change. Bye bye claw machines.

That Disneyland measles outbreak just keeps getting worse. At last count, there were 22 people in the state of California who have reportedly come down with the disease after visiting the park and the number appears to be growing.

In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of January 9, 2015

by on January 9, 2015

In Case You Missed It! Hello! I’m live from Walt Disney World, as I’m here cheering on runners for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. (Oh…and I ran myself, too!) It’s really such a great atmosphere, being here for Marathon Weekend, and there’s really something special about cheering for everyone. I’ve got a Mickey glove to dole out high fives, a cowbell, and posters featuring words of support! Of course, the hardest part is always that wake up call: 3:00 every morning starts to wear on you pretty quickly. All I can say is, “Thank God for Starbucks!”

This week, I challenge you to watch the viral video of Gaston schooling a park guest, take a visit to Dizzneeland with me, and much more!

Oh, and if you see me in the parks or on the course this weekend, make sure to say, “Hi!”

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Welcome to Dizzneeland – The Happiest Hell on Earth…if you watch The Simpsons, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If you missed this week’s fun poke at Disney, catch it here. Also, don’t forget to add the Country Storm Trooper Jamboree into your Touring Plans! It seems like a can’t miss attraction.

Viral Video of the Week: It seems like the hot thing to do right now is to go toe-to-toe with Gaston. Previously we saw the video of the little girl putting the Disney Villain in his place. Now, a park-goer attempts to challenge Gaston to a push-up contest. In a second video released this week, Gaston was challenged to an arm wrestling contest. Seriously…how awesome is Gaston?! I think I’m going to have to put meeting him on my trip to-do list.

In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed It!

Happy 2015 everyone!  So glad to see you here again! Are you ready for more fun and frivolity from me this year? Well I’m ready to share with you!

This week we take a look back 2014, a look forward to 2015, and much more!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Fortune had a fantastic look at CEO Bob Iger. This in-depth article talked about how he became CEO and peeled the onion of the man. It also takes a look at what could be in store for the company in the future. Such an intriguing article, for sure.

So, I found my new running mix! DJ Elliot shared his tracks from his New Year’s Eve set at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This will come in handy next week when I’m running the 10k during Marathon Weekend. (PS: why did I think it would be a good idea to sign up for the 10k?)

In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of December 26 , 2014

In Case You Missed It!

In Case You Missed It!

Wow! The year has flown by! How did that happen? It feels like just yesterday I was getting ready to welcome 2014, and here we are saying goodbye to it! I want to thank each and every one of you reading In Case You Missed It this year. I can’t wait to share fun goodies and tidbits I find with you next year! Remember, if you find something that you think may be interesting, you can always drop me a line to let me know.

So with that, I say, “Bring on 2015!”

This week was clearly slower, thanks to the holidays, but I was able to find a few tidbits that I think you’ll enjoy.

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

It appears the time has come. MyMagic+ should be headed to other Disney theme parks, like Disneyland, within the next few years. Thoughts? Things have seemed to work much better within the past few months, but the system is still clearly buggy at times. Plus with Disneyland’s Annual Passholders, one wonders how things will change when the system does roll out to that resort.
