Disney Changing Magic Kingdom Security Procedures

by on March 29, 2017

Security Procedures Update

©Rikki Niblett

Big changes are coming soon for Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom, as far as bag check and security procedures go.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, beginning on April 3, Magic Kingdom visitors who drive to the theme park and park at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) will go through metal detection and have their bags screen at the TTC. Once Guests are scanned at the Transportation and Ticket Center, they will then be able to board the ferry or monorail to head to the Magic Kingdom; Guests will not need to go through security measures once they get to the theme park itself.

In addition, Guests who are staying at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will go through security at the resorts’ monorail stations prior to heading to the Magic Kingdom.

Currently, all Guests have to have their bags checked and go through metal detection directly in front of the Magic Kingdom’s gates.

This change is being done in an effort to make the security procedures go more efficiently for both Disney, as well as park Guests. If you have been to the Magic Kingdom on an exceptionally busy day, you will understand how crazy crowded and backed up that area right in front of the park can get, so it seems like this new process will be exceptionally helpful.

For even more explanation, here’s a video where Brian goes through the entire process:

One thing is for certain. Spring break is officially here. Know how I know? It’s because the currently seasonal attraction, Stitch’s Great Escape is currently open for Guests. Guests can stop by the Tomorrowland attraction until March 17 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily. The attraction will then return back to seasonal status beginning March 18.

Stitch’s Great Escape initially became a seasonal attraction back on October 2. Rumors indicate that a new attraction themed after the film Wreck-It Ralph have been floated around, however nothing is concrete yet about what will eventually happen with the attraction. (For those who are unaware, most of the time, seasonal attractions don’t come out of seasonal status until they are replaced.)

If you will be in the Magic Kingdom and you want to make sure to see Stitch’s Great Escape, now is your change to do it!

by on February 17, 2017

Joffrey's Coffee

Guests will soon be able to get their Joffrey’s Coffee fix at the Magic Kingdom in Tomorrowland, as a brand new Joffrey’s kiosk is expected to open in March. This is the first Joffrey’s Coffee kiosk to be located at the Magic Kingdom.

The new location is expected to serve a specialty coffee that is specific to Tomorrowland and that is their brand new s’mores latte, which includes Joffrey’s espresso mixed with chocolate sauce and marshmallow syrup, topped with whipped cream, graham cracker crumbs, and marshmallows. (Which you can get either hot or iced.) Oh does that sound delightful!

Currently, the two closest kiosks to the Magic Kingdom could be found at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and at the Transportation and Ticket Center.

This new kiosk is perfect for those looking for a great pick me up, as well as for those who have been wishing for an alternative to Starbucks at the Main Street Bakery.

I decided to head over on Super Bowl Sunday to report what the most magical place on Earth is like on game day. As you can see below the crowds on Main Street weren’t too intimidating when I arrived a little before 7pm.
