Daisy Lauren’s Best Week Ever: February 5, 2015

by on February 5, 2015

1Hi, Everyone! Welcome to the Best Week Ever here at Walt Disney World. This week we’ll be visiting Epcot to test FastPass+, stopping by Downtown Disney for some delicious dining, and finishing up at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I can’t believe I fit so much fun into one weekend! You know I do it all for you, so let’s get moving! 🙂

We arrived at Epcot in time for rope drop, which we’re doing less and less now that FastPass+ is working so well. Since we were really just there to test the system and shop, we didn’t run to Test Track or Soarin’. Instead we sauntered up to Spaceship Earth and confidently scanned our MagicBands… and were turned away! For the first time since using the system I was told my FastPass+ wasn’t there and I needed to stop by a kiosk or join the standby line. Up to this point we’ve always been allowed into the FastPass+ line on the honor system. Since it was so early we were able to ride with a walk on wait, but want to hear about how our trip to the FastPass+ kiosk went? Be sure to click to read more!

Add a Little Romance To Your Disney Valentine’s Day

by on February 1, 2015

Aaaaaah. It’s almost Valentine’s Day again. That ever so romantic day where millions of people in love buy each other roses, chocolates, and mushy cards. But what do you do when you are spending the day in the most magical place on Earth? You celebrate Disney style of course.

I know you are thinking this is probably full of Mickey ears, parades and fireworks right? Well, it could be. Or you could plan for some truly romantic Disney magic to encompass the day. Here are my top picks for romance in Disney.

  • Order flowers, chocolates, champagne, or even a tiara to be delivered to your resort room. Disney Floral and Gifts has it all! Call 407.939.4438 or order online at I suggest the Pirate’s Passion. Hint hint if you are reading honey!!
  • Book a massage for your sweetheart at one of Disney’s eight spas. Or be adventurous and try a couple’s massage offered at Mandara Spa at the Dolphin or Senses at either the Grand Floridian or Saratoga Springs. Call 407-WDW-SPAS to make reservations.
  • Treat her like a princess when you dine at Cinderella’s Royal Table. There are several special event packages you can choose from, but my favorite is ordering the chocolate slipper. If eating at Cinderella’s Royal Table seems too childish, other locations include the Grand Floridian’s table-service restaurants (Citricos, 1900 Park Fare, Grand Floridian Café, Narcoosee’s, Victoria and Albert’s) or during afternoon tea at the Garden View Lounge. The slipper must be ordered in advance by contacting
  • Splurge for dinner at one of Disney’s Signature restaurants such as Victoria and Albert’s or the California Grill. (Ed. – Book far in advance if you wish to dine at any restaurant on Valentine’s Day. There is currently no availability for parties of 2 at any signature restaurant on Valentine’s night.)
  • Looking for some fireworks in your evening? Take your sweetie on a Wishes or Illuminations cruise. The fresh night air, your own private cruise, inspiring pyrotechnics: what girl wouldn’t swoon?
  • More of a land lubber? Got an equestrian side to you? How about a horse drawn carriage ride at either the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds or Port Orleans French Quarter. When my husband surprised me with this one year I almost cried.
  • Kiss everywhere. I recommend kissing in every country in Epcot. Take selfies or ask someone else to take photos for you. Flowers die, but you can remember the romance a lot longer with pictures.

This list is nowhere near complete of all the romance to be found in the Disney parks.  For more ideas, check out a few other TouringPlans blogs on the subject by Stacey Lantz and  Lisa Gilmore.  Whatever you choose to do I’m sure the day will be filled with pixie dust simply because you are together in the most magical place in the world.

Mouse Laughs: Unexpected Romance Around the World

by on February 14, 2014

2014-02-castleToday is a day of romance … a day of love … a day for the celebration of those special bonds that we’re lucky enough to share with one another as we walk these hallowed roads together, two as one, without but a single worry in our love-struck hearts…

That’s what all of those hearts all over the place are all about, if you hadn’t heard!

And of course, those who find themselves in or around Walt Disney World today will no doubt be overwhelmed by a sea of romantic gestures as they meet characters walking hand in hand, and pastries dazzled with pink and red frosting, and that distinct aroma that can only mean that love is most definitely in the air … and also that there’s a turkey leg stand just around the corner … but mostly love, at least for today!

And yet that’s just the thing, right? How does one stand out with his or her own romantic offerings when you can’t throw a Mickey plush without hitting somebody making a grand gesture of proposing to their significant other around every bend?!

A well-timed smooch at the end of Wishes? Yeah, you and about a thousand other people!

A romantic lunch in the Rose Gallery at Be Our Guest? Take a number, and I hope you brought some snacks!

A nice walk through the typically quiet nature trails at the back of Animal Kingdom? Ok, so that one’s actually a pretty good one…

Fortunately, however, there are still a few special places out there – off the beaten path, if you will – where love and mushy stuff thrive just the same, but without having to compete with 100,000 other hopeless romantics at the same time! You just need to know where to look for them, and because I’m such a nice guy, here are some great places where I’d suggest you start:

Journey of The Little Mermaid @ the Magic Kingdom
It’s the tale (tail?) of a girl who sacrifices everything that she has for true love! Crustaceans sing, the plaice play the bass, and even though it doesn’t get as big of a production as Under the Sea, you’re missing out on a prime opportunity there just before the grand finale if you don’t take a quick moment to lean in close and Kiss the Girl…

“Shalalalalala, don’t be scared!”

Celebrate The Love With Disney Princesses and Princes this Valentine’s Day

by on February 14, 2014

If you have the opportunity to be at the Magic Kingdom to celebrate Valentine’s Day today, head to the nearest Princess meet and greet opportunity.  You see, for today only, Disney will be offering special meet and greets with the lovely Disney Princesses and their handsome Princes.

Briefly, a few of the couples I have seen that are meeting with guests include Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen in Liberty Square at Tiana’s Garden Glen. At Princess Fairytale Hall in Fantasyland, Cinderella and Prince Charming, as well as Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip, are sharing the love.

This is a very rare opportunity to see Disney couples together.  But a very fun one too!

Happy Valentine’s Day to you!

Celebrating Valentine’s Day at Walt Disney World

by on February 5, 2014

It’s that time of year when the most magical place on Earth becomes the most romantic! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite ways to celebrate, starting with the simple and leading up to the more extravagant. Just in case you don’t make it all the way to the end, I want to wish you a very happy February 14 in advance! 🙂

All photos from

Picture Perfect: Anyone who has read my stuff before knows that I’m into photography in a big way. So I’m sure it isn’t surprising that taking pictures is high on my list. What better (and affordable) way to celebrate than to spend a day taking photos together with your favorite characters?

Light up the night: Call me a dork, but I swoon when my hubby buys me one of the light up toys that come out on carts in the parks after dark. Sneak off and buy your girls a light up rose – she just might love it!

Seaside Stroll: Ok, so it isn’t really the sea! But you can stroll around the Seven Seas Lagoon. Add in some fireworks from the Polynesian beach, and you have a recipe for romance!

Late night dip: Imagine heading back after a long day at Disney and taking a relaxing dip in the hotel Jacuzzi with your loved one. Great for sore muscles and bubbly snuggling!

A ride through the park: How about a horse drawn carriage ride through Port Orleans Riverside or the Fort Wilderness Campground? The cost is $64 per carriage, and it’s up to you if you want to share it with anyone other than your Valentine!
