T-rex gets bigger

The T-Rex restaurant at Downtown Disney is expected to open this fall.

It is becoming a major building in the skylien of Downtown Disney. The mass lot for the restaurant stretches from the McDonalds all the way to the Pleasure Island, encompassing a massive amount of space.

Toy Story Mania nears completion

Scheduled to open in late May, the Toy Story Mania attraction is nearing completion.

the refurbishment walls have moved out on both ends so that Pixar Place can be completed. Guests cannot currently pass beyond the entrances of the Backlot Tour or Walt Disney One Man’s Dream. Strangely enough, these two under-attended attractions should get major boosts in popularity due to their proximity to Toy Story Mania.

Character Shuffle at Hollywood Studios

With the imminent opening of Pixar Place at Disney Hollywood Studios this May (along with the Toy Story Mania ride), several chacter meet and greets have been shuffled around the park. Notably, Mickey Mouse has been evicted from his little sound stage next to the new ride itself and now resides in the Art of Disney Animation in a newly created area.

Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc have moved into an unused space at the exit of the Backlot Tour, very close to the new Pixar Place.

They have vacated their old home at the stage door of the ABC theater which will become the home of American Idol when it opens in the fall.

Fans of the movie Cars can find Lightning and Tow Mater also nearby the exit of the Backlot Tour.

And finally, Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable have found new homes on the Streets of America near the Light Motors actions stunt show along with the Power Rangers.

New Personalized Touring Plan Feature: Copy

You now have the ability to copy an existing touring plan into your Personalized Touring Plans list. This allows you to start with an existing touring plan, rather than from scratch, when creating custom touring plans. Look for the “Copy Plan” feature on the “My Touring Plans” page for plans you’ve created and bookmarked, and on the “Plan Details and Summary” page for any other plan you’re interested in copying.

Note that a subscription is required to copy the Unofficial Guide’s touring plans. now has almost 5,000 user-created touring plans, and almost 4,000 of those are available at no charge.

Rumor: Free dining to be offered starting April 10

Don’t quote us on this, but we’ve heard from multiple sources inside and outside Disney that Disney’s “free dining” offer will return on April 10, 2008. We’re not sure which travel dates will be included, but we’ll post more information as soon as we hear it.

No summer concerts

The Little One’s Travel Time and Epcot Sounds Like Summer concert series will not be returning this year. No Doodlebops and no Abba this year.

Mickey takes over the party duties

In an apparent attempt to get more people to attend the parties, the name has been formally changed to “Mickey’s” Pirate and Princess Parties. Attendance at these parties has been considerably low in comparison to the popular Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

The Orlando Sentinel has reported that the new building next to the Contemporary Resort which replaces the North Tower will be called the Kingdom Tower and will be a Disney Vacation Club location. Shh.. It’s Disney’s best kept secret.

Cinderella’s Golden Carousel Refurbishment

Noodles until August
