Disney’s Buy-4-Get-7 Offer extended to cover travel dates through August 15

by on February 5, 2009

Beginning Monday, February 9, you’ll be able to book vacations with Disney’s “Buy-4-Get7” discount that cover travel dates through August 15, 2009.

That being said, we would not be surprised if Disney simply extended this discount through the end of 2009, at some point in the future. The usual disclaimers about us not knowing anything about anything still apply.

Also, Disney has extended the booking dates for its January throug March “Buy-4-Get-7” through February 28, 2009. Those rates are valid for stays most Sunday through Thursday nights, March 1 – April 4, 2009.

May Hours Published By Disney

by on February 3, 2009

We have updated our Crowd Calendar to reflect Disney’s recently posted hours and Extra Magic Hours schedule for May 2009.

Disney has not yet posted any schedules for June or later. Once they do we will update our calendar and post a message on this blog. We are also working on including January and February 2010 on our calendar, look for that to appear soon.

Fantasmic! Schedule Affecting Crowds At Disney’s Hollywood Studios

by on February 3, 2009

Since January 2009 Disney has moved from a nightly showing of Fantasmic! to showings on select days. We have many reports that crowds are being affected by this change. While we send our trusty data collectors into the parks to scout out the nature and size of this affect we have decided to alter our best days/worst days recommendations such that the presence of a scheduled Fantasmic! show is now included in the algorithm. This does not mean that the studios will always be a park to avoid on days when Fantasmic! occurs, but it does mean that a day without Fantasmic! is more likely to get the nod.

Remember, the best days/worst days calendar is meant only as a guide in your planning. If missing Fantasmic! means that little Johnny or Jane is going to cry on the plane the entire way home, make sure to see it. If we say the Studios is a park to avoid but it’s the only night you can see Fantasmic!, by all means, go! A second option is to choose a day when a Fantasmic! show is scheduled and the Studios is neither recommended nor listed as a park to avoid. These days are in the middle in terms of typical Studios crowds and might be your best option.

Also note that this change may be temporary. As always, as we continue to gather our data on crowds at Walt Disney World, we will update the calendar whenever a change is necessary.
