Best “Spots” In Typhoon Lagoon
We’ve been doing a lot of research in the water parks lately, and we came up with this idea as we would often see families staking out their spots for the day as their first order of business. And we suggest doing the same. But where to go?
Below, we highlight some of the spots that we have noticed and experienced to be among the best in Typhoon Lagoon. Each spot will have some kind of descriptive title as well as a picture. Below all of the descriptions and pictures is another image of the Typhoon Lagoon park map. We circled the area in which you can find these spots, each with a different color highlighter on the map.
Crush ‘N’ Gusher Spot
This spot has a little of everything to offer. It is near one of the most popular attractions in the park, it is close to restrooms, there is ample shade, it is usually uncrowded, and there are picnic tables nearby under a gazebo for having your lunch. This spot is circled in BLUE on the map.
Shark Reef Spot
This area has plenty of gazebos that provide shade to lounge under. There are two eateries right next to this area as well as restrooms. And, if you are a fan of the Shark Reef, you will enjoy being so close to this truly unique attraction. This spot is circled in GREEN on the map.
Cascade Cove Spot
This is by far the most serene area to claim a piece of the lush landscape as your own for the day. Marked by an old piece of wood as Cascade Cove, this spot has beautiful scenery, including a little slow running waterfall. There are several picnic tables in this area to use for your picnic lunch. It is very close to the Shark Reef and the previous spot that we highlighted. This spot is circled in RED on the map.
Wave Pool Spot
Some people want to be in the middle of the action. Well, this spot will do just that without having to sacrifice your personal space or be right on top of a lot of people. This spots provides great shade as well as a great vantage point to keep an eye on your kids while they are in the wave pool. There is really only room for about eight people here so get there early if you wish to snag this hot property. This spot is circled in PURPLE on the map.
Spot Where Smoking is Permitted
This spot is the best area for people that wish to smoke. You won’t have to leave your spot as it is a designated smoking area. This spot is circled in PINK on the map.

Thanks so much for this info! Heading to TL this week for my oldest daughter’s birthday. We have a 3 month old who cannot wear sunscreen yet, so I was worried about finding shady areas for the baby and I to sit while Hubby and the kids play. Now, thanks to you, I have a plan! Kudos! 🙂

Darn it, Josh, Disney read your blog! Any idea if the new Beachcomber Shacks at Typhoon Lagoon (premium areas) overlap with your suggested spots?
As of last Saturday, we scoured the whole park and didn’t find any. However, we did spot a sign at advertising the service at the front of the park. We’ll let everyone know if the best spots get taken over.
Later blog post indicates the Wave Pool Spot is now a $250 VIP Beachcomber Shack.

totally cool! We are planning our first water park day on our next trip. This information will be invaluable! Now, what DAY should I go to TL? I think you guys recommend early in the week? Is that right? Monday – Wednesday? I’ll be there Aug 21-30, if that means anything!
Friday or Saturday seem to be the best in our experiences. Thursday is historically the most crowded day at the water parks.

The National Hurricane Center says its no longer concerendabout significant development of the system, and has dropped any mention of it…always best to check their website for updated info: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

Wow, great job Josh. Last time I was there we were running in circles trying to find a good place, next time, things will be different.
