DCA Opens Temporary Entrance and Exit on 8/19/2011

Disney California Adventure ramps up construction of Buena Vista Street by opening a temporary entrance to the park this Friday morning (August 19, 2011).

As you can see, the new entrance directs guests around the backside of the Soarin’ show building. A walkway has been reserved between the Carthay Circle Theater construction to the south and the Buena Vista Street construction proper to the north to allow access to the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. Thankfully the earlier plan to have the backlot accessed solely through the bug’s land bypass by Tower of Terror was dropped – but you can still get there that way if you want to avoid the congestion that this pinch point will create.

It wouldn’t surprise us if the crowd flow in the park forces most of the Hollywood Pictures Backlot attractions to have shorter lines than usual. Also, try to avoid leaving the park immediately after a show of World of Color. We expect this will simply not be pretty. The standard exit procedure after a show has Cast Members directing guests straight down the parade corridor to the main entry plaza – which obviously will be inaccessible.  They’ll likely direct guests through the Grizzly River Run and Redwood Creek Challenge Trail area. You might be better off exiting the horde at the Grand Californian and cutting through the hotel to Downtown Disney.
