Changes In Disneyland Resort Extra Magic Hour Policy

Disney has announced that Disneyland Resort hotel guests are now eligible for Extra Magic Hour mornings 7 days a week. During early entry, hotel guests may enter either park or park hop if their tickets allow. Previously, the Extra Magic Hour perk was only available to hotel guests on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays for Disney California Adventure, and Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for Disneyland. The change went into effect today (July 16, 2012) and is scheduled to last through September 13, 2012.

The Annual Passholder early entry program is still in effect, but due to the expansion of Extra Magic Hour, Passholders will now be mixed in with hotel guests for early entry. Remember, Annual Passholders must pre-register for early entry; Disneyland Resort hotel guests do not.

  • So if you are staying at one of the Disney hotels and using early entry, is it better to enter the front gate or go through the Grand Californian?

  • How will this affect the efficiency of the morning touring plans? Will touringplans.com offer alternative plans to accommodate those of us that will not have early entrance to the parks?

  • Interesting! I will be curious to see if it divides the crowds or if everyone goes to Carsland and DLR is empty! Also can I assume it’s still Fantasyland only for DLR?
