The Disney World park hours were recently updated for September, with operating hours extended for the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There are now a handful of days where the Magic Kingdom is open until 11pm with a second Main Street Electrical Parade added.

Hollywood Studios also had a few days changed, and will now stay open until 10pm occasionally. Those days will also see an additional showing of Fantasmic!. Animal Kingdom had a few closing times adjusted as well.

The chart below shows all current park hours with changes in red.

There have also been several minor changes to various days in October and November. Please check the park hours listed right here on for all of the latest hours.

You may notice minor changes to our Crowd Calendar involving some of the changed dates. We recently began using our own internal projected park hours to give you the most accurate crowd ratings available. Using these projected hours has made our long-term crowd ratings more stable, but we are not perfect (well, some of us).

We apologize for the changes, although one thing you should be aware of is that Disney sometimes announces extended operating hours on the actual day of operation. Saturdays in particular tend to be prime candidate for last minute extensions. These extensions are not necessarily something that can be planned around, but you should be aware that they are possible. We will make sure to keep you updated on all changes.

  1. your schedule above shows 2 presentations of MSEP on Sunday, 9/23, but the calendar currently on WDW website shows no MSEP that night:

    Sunday, September 23
    9:00 AM Park Opens
3:00 PM Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade (Entertainment)
9:00 PM Wishes™ Nighttime Spectacular (Entertainment)
10:00 PM Extra Magic Hours (10:00 PM – 1:00 AM)
    10:00 PM Park Closes

I assume this is an oversight on Disney’s part?

    • Well Peter, here’s the tricky thing with the park hours. Disney updates the travel agent site first before updating the main website. The above changes reflect the travel agent calendar and the Disney website should reflect the same changes in a few days. It is not unheard of for Disney to make more changes when their website is updated, but for now, the above schedule is as official as it gets.

      • I figured as much with the park hours, but it always seemed weird that there was no MSEP scheduled for that Sunday night. But now there will be 2?

  2. There were also several changes to the last week of August that came out with the September calendar.

    • You are correct! They are:

      Sunday, August 26
Magic Kingdom – closing changed to 10pm
Hollywood Studios – closing changed to 10pm and a 2nd Fantasmic! has been added
Animal Kingdom – closing changed to 7pm

      Monday, August 27
Hollywood Studios – closing changed to 10pm and a 2nd Fantasmic! has been added
Animal Kingdom – closing changed to 6pm

      Tuesday, August 28
Animal Kingdom – closing changed to 6pm

      Wednesday, August 29
Animal Kingdom – closing changed to 7pm

      Thursday, August 30
Animal Kingdom – closing changed to 6pm

      Friday, August 31
Animal Kingdom – closing changed to 6pm

  3. We will be there the week of 14-22 SEPT! Been a Touring Plans subscriber for 4+ years, they have this as one of the slowest weeks of the year in crowds. Can’t wait to go! 🙂

    • We will be visiting Sept. 15-23 (and then going to the Dream to Cruise until the 27th). This is our “Ultimate Disney” trip. We have used the Unofficial advice for more than a dozen years and love this time of year for touring because the crowds are low and the weather is still warm. I am thrilled to see the addition of a few extra shows/parades this year as I do feel like we could have used an extra program on those extra magic nights. Yeah!

      • Hope you have a wonderful time!!! If you see a really tall guy running around acting like a kid – it is me! LOL!

  4. Is there any way you could include special events like MNSSHP in the graph above like how the parades are noted? This event is critical to the days we choose to go to MK and it would make it a lot easier if I didn’t have to look it up at another location.

    • I will try to remember to list the days for the hard ticket events. It is generally easy to figure out because those are the days that the Magic Kingdom closes at 7pm. September has a little catch in that plan because Friday, September 7 and Saturday September 8 are Nights of Joy. The September Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates are:

      Tuesday, September 11
      Friday, September 14
      Tuesday, September 18
      Friday, September 21
      Tuesday, September 25
      Friday, September 28
      Sunday, September 30
