Disney is always looking at ways to improve guest experience, and as a test, from August 1 – 31, it is doing just that: Disney’s Magical Express (which is free bus transportation to and from Orlando International Airport and Disney Resort Hotels for guests staying at those hotels) will give some guests the option to be picked up at Downtown Disney.
This test, which is currently limited to guests staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort (both French Quarter and Riverside), permits guests to choose to leave from either their resort or Downtown Disney in order to head back to the airport. This will allow guests additional time to spend enjoying all that Downtown Disney has to offer.
Guests who are eligible to take part in this test must have a domestic flight that leaves Orlando International Airport between 3 pm and midnight or an international flight that leaves between 4 pm and 1 am.
Motorcoaches will pick up guests in the center of Downtown Disney, by the bridge in Pleasure Island nearest to Raglan Road. Guests who want to use this method of transportation must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled departure time. The motorcoach may still make multiple stops after stopping at Downtown Disney. There will be signage around the area, and Disney’s Magical Express Cast Members will be on hand from noon to 9 pm to provide assistance and directions for guests.
For those who are letting Disney take care of their luggage, it will be handled in one of two ways:
- Resort Airline Check in – It is recommended that guests participate in Resort Airline Check-in (details of this service will be provided at Resort check-in).
- Resort Bell Services transfer – Alternatively, guests can check luggage, including carry-on luggage, with the Bell Services team at their resort. Bell Services will then transfer the luggage to the Disney’s Magical Express Bus Stop at Downtown Disney. Guests will then claim bags prior to boarding. The luggage will travel with guests on the motorcoach.
If you want to participate in the test, you must confirm a booking no later than 48 hours prior to your departure and information about where to call will be able to be found in your guest room.
Please keep in mind that this is only a test. Details may change as the test progresses, and it may or may not result in this being offered as an option in the future for all resorts.
