In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of November 28, 2014

In Case You Missed It!

I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving with family and friends! Now it’s time for the best part – leftovers! Of course, today is also Black Friday, so who went out and got some awesome deals?

As far as this week’s fun reads, I found information about what you should think about when cruising during the holidays, photos of cats from Disneyland, and much more!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

The Motley Fool had a detailed look at “21 Interesting Facts About the Walt Disney Company.” I certainly learned a lot reading this article, and I think you will too.

Seriously, if you are not reading former Disney artist Floyd Norman’s blog, you should be. This week he wrote a great piece about what it was like to work for Disney in the 1960s. That story about the horse is fantastic. It’s so great to hear about the company from someone who lived it.

So, I know that yesterday was Thanksgiving, but I thought this was rather informative, sharing the history of Disney and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

I came across this article that shares the in-depth story of how Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came to be. If you have never heard the whole story, this is a must read. It’s a fantastically thorough article that shows how the film changed movies forever.

You’ve likely heard about the cats of Disneyland. (For those who don’t know, Disneyland is home to many, many feral cats who call the resort home.) Mashable shares some photos of some of these gorgeous and helpful creatures.

This week seemed to be filled with fun and informative articles. This one comes from someone who has visited all 13 Disney theme parks. (And ironically…it isn’t Tom Bricker!) The author talks about the different things he’s learned and how each of the parks differs.

Who’s lucky enough to be cruising during the holidays? To me, it sounds like a magical way to celebrate. If I could book my family on a Christmas cruise right now on Disney Cruise Line, I totally would. But there are many things that people don’t think about that they should when planning for this type of festivity, and USA Today shares what those are. (PS: My favorite is where you should bring treats for the crew. They are away from their loved ones during the holiday, so helping to make their holiday merry and bright is a great idea.)

So, last week, we were surprised with the news of the movie Strange Magic. Now, we have a trailer for the film! Thoughts?

The Frozen frenzy continues. All things Elsa and Anna have knocked off Barbie as the top toy for girls. That is so crazy to think!

Universal won three Thea awards based off of Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Find out what attractions won the coveted prize!

It’s good cold, but who would turn down a hot mug of Butterbeer? Not me! I can’t wait to grab this delicious warm treat the next time I stop at Universal!

Well, even though I’m afraid of dinosaurs, I can totally see how a lot of these aspects found in the trailer for Jurassic World could make it to Islands of Adventure and be awesome!

What did we miss? Attach your ideas to an Olaf Waffle Maker (because honestly, who doesn’t want waffles in the shape of Olaf for breakfast, or lunch, or dinner) and send them to blog@touringplans.com with the words “In Case You Missed It” in the subject line.
