A cold front that swept across Central Florida last week kept wait times significantly lower than the same period in years past. The Crowd Calendar predicted crowd levels at ‘7’ or above but we saw many days with crowd levels as low as a ‘4’. More local residents that normal, many of whom were on Spring Break last week, may have decided not to visit the parks.

Sunday’s crowd at Universal was one of the examples where we expected ‘7’s but observed ‘4’s. Wait times were significantly lower than usual (for a Sunday in late March).

Wow! Both Universal parks had wait times as low as we would normally see in mid January or early February but not in late March. Although, weather can have a significant impact in the crowds, especially in the Spring. Transformers The Ride 3D averaged 31 minutes (predicted 44).

Crowds on Tuesday were much busier than the previous two days and much more in line with what we would expect in late March. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey averaged 49 minutes.

Lower crowds returned on Wednesday thanks to some cooler weather. We saw averages of 16 at Revenge of the Mummy (predicted 26) and 14 at E.T. Adventure (22).

Double level ‘6’s again on Thursday. Rip Ride Rockit managed a 40 minute average (predicted 42) while The Hulk Coaster averaged 61 minutes (predicted 40).

Friday’s crowd levels were the highest of the week thanks to average wait times like 62 minutes at Rip Ride Rockit and 51 minutes at One Fish, Two Fish, Re Fish, Blue Fish. No major attraction at Islands of Adventure had an average wait time lower than 30 minutes.

Saturday’s crowd level were nearly the equal of Friday’s. We saw average wait times of 27 minutes at Revenge of the Mummy and 67 at The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.

This week is the busiest week of the Spring Break Season with the highest percentage of schools out of session. Plus, many families take advantage of Good Friday and Easter Monday to travel to the parks while minimizing the number of school days missed.
