In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of August 7, 2015

ICYMIWe are officially one week out from The D23 Expo! Are you going? If so, I’m jealous! What do you all think we’ll all be buzzing about following this year’s event?

This week, the buzz is all about the Walt Disney Company’s earnings, the upcoming PBS special about Walt Disney, and more.

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

This week the Walt Disney Company’s earnings were released. Earnings rose in the third quarter by 11%.

Due to the earnings being released, Bob Iger did the cable network news rounds and went on Squawk Box to discuss the results. It’s always fascinating to hear his thoughts on the direction of the company.

Which costs more? A vacation to Walt Disney World or Disneyland? Hipmunk analyzed the data and came out with, what I think, is a surprising result. What do you think?

Disneyland is making some moves…acquiring properties in the Anaheim area across from the current resort. What do you think all of it means?

Buzz is picking up about the upcoming PBS special about Walt Disney, with a recent panel discussion occurring this week to discuss what we can expect to see. There was also recently a video released about why they wanted to tell this story. Oh and here is the trailer, in case you hadn’t seen it yet.

I may need to make sure to make a trip to Marceline on my next trip back home to Missouri, as it appears that the Midget Autopia may roll again.

It’s time for a blast from the past and this one I DO NOT remember.  There was once a show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios called Goosebumps Horrorland Fright Show and Fun House. It sounded so bizarre, I actually had to double check that it took place at Walt Disney World.  Also after watching the video, I can see why no one talks about it. Did you ever get to see this show in person?

Speaking of blasts from the past…Disney themselves took a look back at The Wonders of Life Pavilion in a great piece that takes a look at all of the aspects of that section of the park.

And even more blasts from the past, but this time from Universal…here are 6 classic commercials that you have to see! Which is your favorite?

Harry Potter fans…are you ready for A Celebration of Harry Potter 2016 for Universal Orlando Resort? It’s happening again this winter!

This is a great article with some interesting insights into the building boon that is taking place at Universal. What parts stick out most to you?

Rumors are flying about the plot of Frozen 2. Here’s the latest thoughts.  Also, please don’t incorporate the idea of Olaf being Elsa’s Prince Charming. Just no. Creepy.

Descendants did awesome on the Disney Channel this past weekend, with 6.6 million viewers total on Friday, not to mention those who watched it ahead of time online.

Very interesting that the cost for flights didn’t mention where they started from. (unless I missed it) And, did they change the name of the Contemporary Resort to the Bay Lake Tower Resort? (I missed that one too 🙂
    Thanks for the updates Rikki!

The extremely fine-print says they took average airfares for the top 30 cities that fly to L.A. and the top 30 cities that fly to Orlando. I think this simply means that Orlando is closer to more of the American population than L.A.

I really can’t put much faith in the cost comparison since he only give vague references to his methodology. All I can say is that my family has been making the annual trek to Disneyland for a dozen years now and we’ve never paid near that much for our trips and we are die hard Dole Whip fanatics.

I remember the Goosebumps show. DD was probably either 7 or 9, 1998 or 2000. I mostly remember ‘Slappy’. DD loved it they had audience participation too.
