“Preferred Show Time” Added to Optimized Touring Plans

Starting today you can tell our touring plan Optimizer which performance of a show you’d prefer to see. Use this new feature if you’ve signed up for a specific Jedi Training Academy show, want to see the late version of Fantasmic!, or prefer an early morning Flights of Wonder show to avoid the heat.

To select a preferred show time, simply tap or click the performance time you prefer on your touring plan:

Touring Plan Show Time Selection Feature

Tap the “clear preferred time” link to un-select a performance time. Or click on a different time if your preference changes.

The Preferred Show Time feature works on touring plans for Disney World, Disneyland, and Universal Studios Florida, and on our mobile Lines app (Android link), desktop, and tablets.

It’s a preference, not a guarantee. The touring plan Optimizer will try to get you to all of your preferred show times. Sometimes that’s just not possible. A good example is at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where Disney often schedules show performances so close together that you can’t get from a first show to a second before the second starts.

If the Optimizer can’t get you to your preferred show time, it tries to get you to the time closest to your preference.

If you’re building your own touring plan using the Optimizer’s Evaluate feature, the Optimizer should add free time as needed to get you to your show times. If not, it may help to add a small break just before your preferred show time.

Customized, Optimized Touring Plans and Lines Mobile App

Our 475,000-member community has created more than 8.3 million touring plans since the Optimizer software was introduced in 2011. If you’d like to try the touring plan software for free, here’s the link.

Our Lines mobile app is the #1-rated mobile app for Walt Disney World in both iTunes and Google Play – higher than Disney’s own My Disney Experience app. That’s because Lines can show you things that Disney can’t, like actual wait times, candid ride and restaurant reviews, and a super-helpful chat feature. Give it a try today.

  • This is super-awesome. Thank you for all your hard work on the program.

  • It’s doable. I’ll add it to the list. Are the typical time preferences morning/afternoon/evening?

    • Ideally, I’d like it broken down more than that…..afternoon covers just too much time. Maybe three hour time periods?

    • Maybe: morning, early afternoon, late afternoon, evening.
Three hour blocks fit in those categories pretty well too.
I think that would be a pretty cool feature, though the more options we get, the less freedom the software has to optimize the best plan. Gotta find a good balance between preference and necessity!

  • This is a great addition to the software! How hard would it be to add the option of a time range for an attraction? Like I only want to do Kali River Rapids in the afternoon (like 1-4pm).

    • I’d love that, especially for AK, where I want to do the safari early in the morning when the animals are more active.
