Jingle bells. Jingle bells. The holidays are almost here.

That’s right; it’s that time of year again. Disney has released the dates for filming this year’s annual Christmas celebration that will air on television on Christmas Day. This year’s special will be called “Disney Parks Unforgettable Christmas Celebration.”

Filming is slated to take place earlier in the year this year, at the Magic Kingdom from November 10-13 and will occur on Main Street U.S.A., as well as the Castle Forecourt Stage.

Guests do not need special tickets to attend the filming; however, admission to the Magic Kingdom will be required. One thing to keep in mind is that space for the filming is limited and that it is a day full of standing around, as many takes are filmed to make sure that things are perfect for the camera.

There is currently no word on who will be performing, nor do we know who will be the host or hosts.

The annual Christmas special was originally known as the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade, then the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade, however last year things were switched up to the “Disney Parks Frozen Christmas Celebration.” The elements of the show however remained mostly unchanged. This year’s event is clearly a tie in to the new Disney Parks promotion, Unforgettable Happens Here.

Those who would like to watch the “Disney Parks Unforgettable Christmas Celebration” will be able to catch the annual traditional airing on Christmas Day on ABC.

  • We will be at Magic kingdom on nov 13th. Wondering how that will effect the crowds and if it makes it difficult to get around

  • The Neil Patrick Harris Parade Show was, hands down, the best Disney Christmas parade. My family watched it on our DVR at least weekly for over a year until we moved and switched cable providers. The Frozen edition didn’t even come close to comparing. I hope this year they pull together a showstopper again!

  • In years past they gave away tickets for this taping and brought in a parade crowd, but they were not required to stay on Main Street but this year it says they are NOT issuing special tickets? So I am wondering how this will impact the crowds? We will be there that week and plan to be in the MK on the 12th. Any insight you can share will be appreciated.

  • Also wondering about this. I will be at MK those days. Does it last all day/make it difficult to get around the park? Thanks

  • We will be there on the 10th. I don’t want to change all of my dining and fast passes to switch my scheduled park days. If we avoid Main Street will we be ok (I’m assuming the main street bypass will be available for use)? Will the Festival of Fantasy parade also run that day?

  • Oh wow we are visiting for those days and will be at other parks. Will the filming affect crowd levels at the other parks? Meaning more people avoiding the filming or will this help us? Luckily not going to mk until 15th.
