One of the most common questions that people have been asking since the announcement of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is what kind of food do the Na’vi eat? With today’s sneak peek, we have an idea of what the Satu’li Canteen in Pandora – The World of Avatar will offer.

As previously stated, the fast-casual dining experience will be offering dishes filled with wholesome grains, fresh vegetables, and hearty proteins. Dishes will be familiar flavors with unique twists. Here, Guests will be able to do a create your own bowl option that allows for maximum customization. Guests will start with a base of either quinoa and vegetable salad; mixed whole-grain rice; red-and sweet potato hash; or romaine and kale salad. They will then be able to add whichever protein option they would like – either slow-roasted beef, sustainable fish, wood-grilled chicken, or chili-spiced fried tofu. The bowl will then be topped with charred onion chimichurri, black bean vinaigrette, or a cream herb dressing.

There is also the option of choosing a steamed “pod”. These will be bao buns with either cheeseburger or vegetable curry that is served with root vegetable chips and crunchy vegetable slaw.

Little ones will have the options of choosing grilled chicken, beef, fish, or tofu with greens or rice; a cheese quesadilla, a hot dog wrapped in Parker House dough, or a steamed “pod” (a cheeseburger bao bun.)

As mentioned, this will be a fast-casual restaurant, which means that Guests will be able to order their meals with the all new Mobile Order system through the My Disney Experience app. Mobile Order will allow Guests to not only order their meals (the option will allow for customization too), but pay for them on the go and it will mean that Guests can bypass the ordering queue when they arrive at the restaurant. Once you arrive at Satu’li Canteen, you will tap the “I’m Here” button in the app and when your meal is ready, Guests will be alerted through the app that their meal is ready to be picked up at a special window designated for Mobile Order orders.

One thing you should know is that for the time being, Mobile Order will only be able to accept credit cards. While the restaurant overall accepts the Disney Dining Plan, that option will not be available when the restaurant officially opens.

Satu’li Canteen’s backstory is that it was once the mess hall for the Resources Development Administration base. The canteen is now owned and operated by the Alpha Centuri Expeditions and they have redesigned it so that it features colorful Na’vi items including hand-woven tapestries, cooking tools, and natural Pandoran elements.
