Ask It: Best Fantasyland Spinning Ride?

This week, we’re taking a different type of question for a spin–literally. As readers may already know, I’m not a fan of thrill rides. In all seriousness, I have to psych myself up to ride Pirates of the Caribbean because the drop is too intense for me some days. But spinning rides? I could ride them all day! (Well, maybe not all day, because at some point you do have to let the inner ear settle down a bit.) So this week we’re asking you:

Which Fantasyland spinning ride do you think is the best?

  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant (39%, 193 Votes)
  • Mad Tea Party (30%, 149 Votes)
  • I don't do spinning rides! (17%, 84 Votes)
  • Prince Charming Regal Carrousel (13%, 64 Votes)

Total Voters: 490

  • I picked Dumbo cause I can actually ride that one. I don’t do spinning rides at all, but Dumbo doesn’t bother me.

  • I picked the Mad Tea Party only because the one in Disneyland is one of my favorites. I think the theming and atmosphere of that ride make it awesome (if slightly nauseating). Its location means a great view of Fantasyland as well as the Matterhorn, and the music takes me back every time! If I had to vote on WDW only, it would be Dumbo.

  • I’ll ride Rock n Roller Coaster, Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror… you name it, but I will not get on Mad Tea Party. Just the thought makes me turn green. The other two hardly qualify as spinning rides.

  • Point of order, that this post is talking specifically about Magic Kingdom’s spinners. (DL has King Arthur Carrousel.) That said, I pick Magic Kingdom’s Mad Tea Party all day long on this one. Because unlike Disneyland’s version, you can still spin MK’s teacups as fast as you want to! I used to get applause, and once wrenched my back, from spinning like a mad person (pun intended) on DL’s version. Now the ride is no fun anymore after the Team Disney Anaheim lawyers literally had the brakes applied a few years ago. But MK’s Mad Tea Party… I’m ok with different tea cup designs and a different soundtrack on the Orlando version, because you can still spin to your heart’s content on it.
