Another week of holiday-themed fun at Disneyland Resort. Read on to find out what to expect in this week’s Disneyland preview!

Special Events and Notes

Lots of holiday cheer at Disneyland resort, and both parks have themed their entertainment to the season. At Disneyland Park, A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… In Holiday Magic are being shown in lieu of the regular daytime parade and evening fireworks, respectively.  Over at Disney’s California Adventure, World of Color has been replaced by World of Color — Season of Light. Even better, all of these special shows are included with your normal park admission, so make sure you check them out.

The Festival of Holidays also continues at California Adventure. In addition to food and drink kiosks sprinkled throughout the parkPrincess Elena of Avalor has a special show, and Disney ¡Viva Navidad! (celebrating Latino holiday traditions) will be taking place throughout the Festival.

During the Festival, Annual Passholders are eligible to pick up a Sip & Savor Pass for $45 that is good for eight Festival food and beverage offerings (excluding alcohol). In addition to potentially saving you some money, you’ll also get a lanyard and a special AP button at each kiosk where you redeem a coupon.  Passholders can stop by the AP Corner at Sonoma Terrace for exclusive photo opportunities and a complimentary commemorative collectible art button.

Holiday overlays familiar and new are also part of the festivities.  it’s a small world holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday return, and a couple of Cars Land attractions get the holiday treatment for the first time this year: Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters transforms into Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl, and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Jingle Jamboree. The resorts are all decked out with holiday decorations, including a gingerbread replica of the Grand Californian in that hotel’s lobby. Make sure you check out Rikki’s preview to learn more about what you can expect for the holidays.

Disney is currently holding “A Coco Celebration,” including a sneak peek of Disney•Pixar’s movie Coco at the Bug’s Life Theater through January 7, 2018 at Disney’s California Adventure.

Finally, let this serve as a quick reminder that a new scene has been added to Star Tours from the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie. You’ll be visiting Crait during a battle, which you may have seen in the trailers.

Crowds

Crowds are again tolerable this week as we brace for the winter break at the end of the year.  We’re predicting the highest crowds on Saturday (7) and the lowest on Friday (4), and steady, middle-of-the-road crowds the remainder of the week.

Full details, including park-by-park crowd levels, are available on our Crowd Calendar.

Weather

Warmer this week, but still a wonderful week of weather in Anaheim all things considered — highs in the 80s, lows in the 50s, and no rain in the forecast. As an aside, as you may be aware, there are currently significant wildfires in the Los Angeles area; none of these are currently close enough to Disneyland to be expected to directly impact the parks. With that said, traffic in the region may be impacted, and it is a fluid situation, so make sure you keep abreast of what’s happening on that front.

As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.

Pretty full slate of shows as we get into the middle of December: Fantasmic! is only showing on the weekends, but the seasonal shows are all showing every day. Detailed show schedules, including smaller productions like Storytelling at Royal Theatre, can be found here.

All other Annual Passports will be honored all days of the week. As per usual, the parks will open one hour early for eligible guests at Disneyland Park Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and at Disney’s California Adventure Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Resort guests can take advantage of these hours every day of their stay for Extra Magic Hours, while guests eligible for Magic Mornings can use that benefit one day at Disneyland Park only. Full park hours can be found by clicking on each date in the Crowd Calendar.

Refurbishments

Most everything is currently operational at Disneyland. At Disneyland Park, Mark Twain Riverboat will be undergoing a brief refurbishment from December 11-15. At California Adventure, Goofy’s Sky School is currently closed through the December 21. Everything else is currently open, and no other refurbishments are scheduled for the remainder of the year. That said, just as attractions can go down unexpectedly over the course of the day, more significant issues can result in unexpected closures; as of now, however, it should be a more or less full slate of attractions until the new year.

As always, you can see the full slate of refurbishments by checking here.

That should do it for this week’s preview. Check back next week and every week to find out what’s coming down the pike. Got questions? Aware of anything else that prospective guests should know about? Let us know in the comments.
