Greetings, everyone. I hope you all had a marvelous Fourth of July holiday or, if you’re not in the U.S. of A., a really great last Tuesday. This month we’re taking a look at merchandise in the parks, and what could be more All American than items found in the shops along Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom. Here’s what I found that was new, exciting, weird, or just plain caught my fancy as I strolled by.
Even though I live literally in the backyard of Magic Kingdom, there’s very little Mickey-themed decor in the house. But I do hear from a lot of people who love it. Some of it is weird, and some of it is quite tasteful. Personally, I don’t think these candle trays are that bad…..
….but I’m a little weirded out by the Mickey clothing bookends. What do you think?
Speaking of weird shoes, I secretly love wearing Crocs because they’re great for the pool deck. Every time I mention that, I get told how ugly they are. I don’t these are bad at all, though–and yes, they are Crocs.
I love the theme of this Mickey’s Surf Shop shirt. Not really a style for anyone in the family, though.
I haven’t seen this Partner’s statue-themed ball cap before. Really classy design. I’m well over my limit of hats, though.
Question for the trendy people out there–are Alex and Ani bracelets still a thing? I haven’t heard people going crazy trying to get them lately, so I wondered. Here’s some cute ones that are out now.
Speaking of trendy, Rose Gold is out….Millennial Pink is in. (Just a reminder so you can stay as hip with it all as a cool cat like me.)
And on the train of things coming back in, I’m surprised that Disney still sells snowglobes. For people who fly, you have to pack them in your suitcase. I guess they survive okay? Here’s your normal “I went to WDW” style.
They also have some really neat attraction-specific ones. Here’s the Tiki Room.
And it’s a small world.
And….20,000 Leagues Under the Sea??
Keeping with the retro vibe, I can’t decide if I like this purse or not. The half a Goofy face in the upper right is a bit disturbing.
And in the disturbing motif, I’m a big fan of Monsters Inc., but this necklace and earring set is a bit creepy for my tastes.
Time to cure it with some cute merchandise. I really like the design of this Up-inspired necklace.
The matching earrings are equally cute.
But when it comes to cute, can anything beat a GIANT WALL OF MICKEY AND MINNIE PLUSH??
My personal favorite for cutest plush ever is the Pirates of the Caribbean puppy. Isn’t he adorable?
Even though our daughter has grown past the Candyland phase, we still do family game night and played the “retro” version of Candyland last month. I’m wondering how the Disney version would compare.
My husband bought me the tsum tsum highlighters a while back. The monorail ones are neat as well, but I think I still have too many highlighters.
This kid and parent spatula set is a neat idea. I like that you can sometimes get useful souvenirs on vacation.
Speaking of useful souvenirs, cooling towels are a must-have this time of year. It’s pretty hot out there!
My daughter (currently working on her series of Best Week Ever articles for the summer) picked out this item as something she might think of buying–but not in the summer. Chocolate coins are tasty, but they wouldn’t survive the heat.
And, finally, my pick for what will be coming to the Outlets soon–it’s a cute picture frame, but I can’t imagine where anyone would put this. A kid’s room maybe? And what type of photo would fit into the weird shape? What do you think, like it or leave it?
That’s it for this month’s stroll down merchandise lane. A reminder that many of these items can be purchased directly from Disney in the ShopParks app. Derek will be back in a couple weeks with the oh-so-popular Outlet report. Have a wonderful summer, and if you’re in the parks, stay cool by doing a little window shopping!
