#AskIt – Where Should the Skyliner Go Next?

Today’s #AskIt comes from Len Testa. Disney is making quick progress on its Skyliner gondolas. When they open next year, the Skyliner will connect the Caribbean Beach (and Riviera DVC property), Pop Century, and Art of Animation resorts with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

Our question for the week is:

Which resort area should be added to the Skyliner system after it opens?

  • Animal Kingdom Lodge (39%, 224 Votes)
  • Disney Springs (31%, 179 Votes)
  • Port Orleans (21%, 119 Votes)
  • Coronado Springs (9%, 51 Votes)

Total Voters: 573

Talk about it here or just reminisce about the original gondolas, the Magic Kingdom Skyway.

  • I’m not a huge fan of the gondola concept, in general. I feel like it will be visually disruptive to the immersive theming that I love in WDW resorts. Not a problem for Pop or AoA, but definitely not at one with the theme at, say, Port Orleans. That said, it would be super cool to ride in a gondola over the AK savanna.

  • I thought it was supposed to go to CSR? Am I working?

  • I voted Disney Springs. A line from Caribbean Beach to the Springs would alleviate a lot of bus traffic getting in & out of the Springs, as they (potentially) wouldn’t need to offer bus service from any of the Skyliner resorts.

  • I voted AKL for the reasons mentioned by others. Close second choice is Disney Springs–after a few rounds at Raglan Road, I’d much rather hop in a gondola than get on a bus.

  • Are we certain that it’s just that easy to drop in another route to the soon-to-be Skyliner route?

    • Yeah adding in to it was in the original plans. You just need per poles and cable they can run it wherever they want with enough stations.

  • I’m torn between AKL and Coronado. On the one hand, Coronado makes more sense based on its proximity and new tower addition. But AKL’s deluxe status deserves more than just bus transportation. Fingers crossed that they can both be added eventually?!

  • AKL is so far from everything on the buses – except of course AK – there needs to be a better way to get to the other parks.

    • I think AKL to the Animal Kingdom Park would be a great amenity for the resort.

  • The correct answer is “My house in Illinois”

    • Hahahahahaha. I also live in IL, so your house is ok with me. Will you watch my car while I’m at Disney?

      • This! South Suburbs of IL would be nice. Lots of open space for the hub and parking lots!

    • Nice one! Be sure to make Pittsburgh a stop between Illinois and WDW.
