Special Events

  • Star Wars: Galactic Nights is Saturday, December 16 from 7:00 pm – midnight. If you’re attending, bring your ticket stub from Star Wars: The Last Jedi for a commemorative holiday ornament! (Valid for movie tickets used Dec. 14-17.)
  • Neil Patrick Harris is narrating the Candlelight Processional this week! You can see him from December 18–21.
  • Flights of Wonder, a bird show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, will be ending on December 31. Catch this show before it’s gone forever!

Disneyland Preview — Week of December 9

Another week of holiday-themed fun at Disneyland Resort. Read on to find out what to expect in this week’s Disneyland preview!

Special Events and Notes

Lots of holiday cheer at Disneyland resort, and both parks have themed their entertainment to the season. At Disneyland Park, A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… In Holiday Magic are being shown in lieu of the regular daytime parade and evening fireworks, respectively.  Over at Disney’s California Adventure, World of Color has been replaced by World of Color — Season of Light. Even better, all of these special shows are included with your normal park admission, so make sure you check them out.

The Festival of Holidays also continues at California Adventure. In addition to food and drink kiosks sprinkled throughout the parkPrincess Elena of Avalor has a special show, and Disney ¡Viva Navidad! (celebrating Latino holiday traditions) will be taking place throughout the Festival.

Universal Orlando Resort Preview – Week of December 9

Winter is coming early with a cold front all across the eastern United States, including Florida. This week debuts a new Marvel character dinner at Islands of Adventure and Blue Man Group is performing a special autism-friendly show.

The weeks between Thanksgiving and just before Christmas are one of the quietest times to visit the Orlando parks and our crowd calendar shows that. Enjoy the low wait times and have a warm Butterbeer for me.

Special Events

  • Ample Hills Creamery, located at Disney’s Boardwalk, is featuring Star Wars-themed ice cream flavors! These three flavors are inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi and can be purchased in store and online.
  • Will you be attending the Candlelight Processional? This week’s performances will be narrated by Disney Legend, Kurt Russell.
  • Hours have been extended for Christmas Tree Trail. To check out these Disney-inspired trees, visit Disney Springs through January 7. New hours below!
    • Monday – Thursday: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    • Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
    • Sunday: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
    • Christmas Eve (12/24): 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Disneyland Preview — Week of December 2

Holiday cheer continues in full force this week at Disneyland. Of particular note at the resort right now is the Festival of Holidays at California Adventure. In addition to food and drink kiosks sprinkled throughout the parkPrincess Elena of Avalor has a special show, and Disney ¡Viva Navidad! will be taking place throughout the Festival.  Lots going on.

During the Festival, Annual Passholders are eligible to pick up a Sip & Savor Pass for $45 that is good for eight Festival food and beverage offerings (excluding alcohol). In addition to potentially saving you some money, you’ll also get a lanyard and a special AP button at each kiosk where you redeem a coupon.  Passholders can stop by the AP Corner at Sonoma Terrace for exclusive photo opportunities and a complimentary commemorative collectible art button.

  • To celebrate the release of Coco, there’s a new musical act at Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion. El Mariachi Coco de Santa Cecilia will be performing through January 6th. For more information, check out Rikki’s article.
  • Hours have been extended for Christmas Tree Trail! To check out these Disney-inspired trees, visit Disney Springs through January 7th. New hours below!

Disneyland Preview — Week of November 25

Thanksgiving is in the rear view mirror as we move forward through the holiday season! Read on to find out what to expect in this week’s Disneyland preview.

Lots of holiday touches at every turn at Disneyland! Make sure you check out the Festival of Holidays at California Adventure. In addition to food and drink kiosks sprinkled throughout the park, which are always well-received, Princess Elena of Avalor has a special show, and Disney ¡Viva Navidad! will be taking place throughout the Festival.

Over at Disneyland Park, the daytime parade has been replaced by A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… In Holiday Magic takes over for the evening fireworks. Also, the holiday overlays for it’s a small world and Haunted Mansion remain in place for the season. Over at Disney’s California Adventure, a couple of Cars Land attractions get the holiday treatment for the first time this year: Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters transforms into Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl, and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Jingle Jamboree. The resorts are all decked out with holiday decorations, including a gingerbread replica of the Grand Californian in that hotel’s lobby!
